Details regarding how they step into the story of Young Sheldon are under wraps. This will be the first time their characters reunite in person following The Big Bang Theory finale which aired in May 2019.
Young Sheldon is a prequel to Big Bang and follows the character of Sheldon during his younger years. Parsons played him as an adult in Big Bang and Ian Armitage brought him to life in Young Sheldon.
Young Sheldon is a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science which isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him.
In addition to Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, Emily Osment and Jim Parsons (as the voice of Sheldon) also star.
The prequel series premiered as the No. 1 new comedy of the 2017-2018 TV season and became the No. 1 comedy in the 2019-2020 season after The Big Bang Theory completed its run. Young Sheldon is currently TV’s No. 1 comedy since the show premiered its seventh and final season.
Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, Steve Holland, Nick Bakay, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak serve as executive producers. Young Sheldon is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Thanks to the continued popularity of the franchise, a new spinoff was greenlit on Tuesday following Young Sheldon characters Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage. The multi-cam project is created by Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland.
