Donnie Wahlberg is back in Boston, and this time, it’s not solely to visit family or perform at Fenway Park with his NKOTB bandmates. Instead, the 55-year-old actor is reprising his role as Danny Reagan in the Blue Bloods spin-off, Boston Blue. While filming is currently underway, there have been a few sneak peeks of what’s happening on set. On Tuesday, July 29, however, one X user shared a clip to bolster excitement ahead of the show’s October 17 premiere.
In the 40-second video, Danny is seen running to a gunshot victim on a crowded street. With him is none other than Sean Reagan (now played by Mika Amonsen). This is the first snippet we’ve seen of Mika as Sean, and we have to say, he does look like a grown-up version of the longtime Blue Bloods actor.
While many fans were originally disappointed by Sean’s recasting, now, the detail most people are focusing on is the fact that Boston Blue isn’t currently being filmed in Boston. As is evident from the caption of the short clip, the series is actually being shot in Toronto. In this instance, St. Lawrence Market was used as a backdrop to Fenway. For all those hoping for an authentic New England filming experience, though, don’t fret! When the same video was posted to Instagram, fans begged Donnie to bring the show to Boston, to which he replied, “On our way next week.”
Here’s hoping we keep getting BTS snaps of what’s unfolding. After all, October feels forever away.
