“Fiona Rene: Discovering Reenie, Falling in Love with Colter, and the Journey to Entrepreneurship”

Colter (Justin Hartley) is headed to wine country—after Reenie (Fiona Rene) calls him in to help solve a case.

In the November 3 episode of Tracker, Reenie takes Colter to a high-end wellness retreat in Napa for executives after a woman goes missing. And she’s not alone—Michael Rady guest stars as Elliot, her partner. Below, Rene previews the episode, talks about the complicated relationship between Reenie and Colter, and more.

We have to talk about Reenie and her own law firm. I like it. She seems to like it. You seem to like it.

Fiona Rene: I like it. I definitely like it. I mean, I just feel like she doesn’t like the idea of having to answer to anyone, especially a man. So, yeah, being able to work on her own and being able to take care of and control her own business, I think that’s the most exciting thing.

And then we also get to have her and Velma work together this season, which is exciting.

Abby McEnany is absolutely a ball of lightning, and so when she comes on set and we get to hang out and play, I mean, the energy is palpable. Yeah, she’s great.

Going back to this week’s episode, Reenie is the one who gets Colter involved in the case, so let’s get a sneak peek at what’s going on and how she got involved in the first place.

Reenie goes to this CEO’s retreat. She has her own company, so she has all these rich clients that she’s trying to win over, and one of them takes her to this retreat in the wine country as a guest and some shit happens and she realizes that she has to call Colter, which is funny because it’s not his scene. And it’s interesting to think about how whenever you’re in a place where you feel like you don’t belong, how do you react to that and how does Colter react to that and what kind of banter does that have for Reenie and him throughout the episode. It’s really funny. And so she calls Colter and he comes and helps the guy run this retreat find people.

It always feels like Reenie is in control.

I mean, I wouldn’t say she doesn’t have control issues. I wouldn’t say there’s a little bit of a setup there. I wouldn’t say that. What I would say is that she can let go of control when she needs to and when she feels safe. But I think she has to use her intelligence and if she has a good idea, she will speak up. She will not pretend it doesn’t exist.

She has a companion for this retreat. Let’s talk about Elliot and how you would describe their relationship.

Be honest. Reenie and Elliot met through the company she used to work for, and ultimately, I think Reenie is looking for availability – emotionally, physically – not just a connection or a spark. I think a woman of her caliber is going to go to a place where she doesn’t have time to play games or have something that is just fleeting or lustful. So I think Elliot really gives her a safe space where he’s really accessible and kind and available and there’s no question about what he’s thinking or feeling. It’s open. That’s what a woman needs these days.

But speaking of togetherness and lack of availability — Oh no!

There’s the issue of Reenie and Colter. How does she feel about him?

I don’t know how the writers will feel about me saying this, but she loves him and I think she’s always loved him. I mean, how could you not? And she trusts and respects him, but does that mean they’re compatible for a relationship right now? Does that mean he’s going to be able to check the boxes and meet her needs right now? Not necessarily. And that’s the hard part. It’s the give and take, the back and forth. I think in every episode, she’s figuring out whether or not he can. Yeah, but the chemistry is undeniable. The respect and trust is undeniable.

Yeah, but I like and respect that she’s not waiting for him. We’re seeing her with Elliot.

No, I mean, look, personally, with my relationship now, I’ve waited a little bit, but me waiting doesn’t stop me from doing anything, right? I still go out and meet people. I’m still open and available and dangerous, but I don’t deny that I love and care about other people, and how that develops is how it develops. And I think it’s the same thing where Reenie would never wait, let alone for a man, for anything. Like you said, she’s in control of the situation and will do what she can, but she’ll deal with things and if things change and turn around, then we’ll see.
