Find out which Blue Bloods star is hesitant to join the cast

Blue Bloods is a family, both on and off screen. The main characters are all related, but the actors who play them have become extremely close over the years. They support each other and stated that they intend to work together for at least a few more seasons.

Given all this, it’s interesting to hear that one of the show’s big stars was hesitant to join. They hesitate because they feel they may not be an ideal fit for the role being offered. Luckily they changed their mind and the rest is history.

In Blue Bloods, who plays Danny Reagan?

Donnie Wahlberg, the show’s most outspoken advocate, is the star in question! The actor had established himself as a supporting actor in films like The Sixth Sense (1999), Saw II (2005) and Righteous Kill (2008), but he had to decide if he was ready to take on the lead role in a good movie yet. That show will be seen by millions of people.

“As an actor, I don’t think I would have been ready to play that role 10 years ago,” Wahlberg told The 92nd Street Y. “Maybe even eight years ago. But when it comes to this part, I’m willing to do what’s written on the page and take the risk that the audience won’t like me for the sake of the play. And it turns out people understand this character better than me.”

While playing opposite Tom Selleck is enough to terrify most actors, Wahlberg decided to challenge himself, which is a good thing since NYPD cop Danny Reagan has become his trademark. At the 2017 People’s Choice Awards, he was nominated for Favorite Cr1me TV Drama Actor and he praised Blue Bloods for helping him find a hosting role on Very Scary People.

“I probably wouldn’t have done The Very Scary People if it weren’t for Blue Bloods,” he told People Magazine. “I think Blue Bloods prepared the audience for me to be the host of Very Scary People in a way.” Because of my involvement in Blue Bloods, I believe I have legitimate status as host of this show.”
