Daniela Ruah to Direct Romantic Short ‘My Type’
NCIS: Los Angeles star Daniela Ruah is directing the romantic short film My Type, starring Sadie Stanley (Cruel Summer) and Jacob Ward (The Summer House). Inspired by a true story, the film follows two twenty-somethings whose shared experience with Type 1 Diabetes sparks an unexpected romance.
Shot on 16mm film, the project reunites Ruah with cinematographer Rafael Leyva (Narcos: Mexico) and is produced by Nicole MacNaughton and Kimberly Pinkson under their High High Productions banner. Filming is currently underway in Santa Barbara.
Ruah says, “We wanted to tell a story that feels both deeply personal and universally hopeful. It’s about finding love in unexpected places and seeing the person, not the diagnosis.”
Caroline Williams Leads Indie Horror ‘Anathema: The Devil’s Doll’
Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) is set to star in the indie horror film Anathema: The Devil’s Doll, directed by Marcel Walz. Production began this month, and the story follows a group of friends whose night of partying takes a sinister turn when they stumble upon an ancient curse, forcing them to survive until dawn as a malevolent force hunts them.
The cast also includes Robert Craighead, Ramiro Leal, Bix Krieger, Esmeree Sterling, Erika K. Marks, Kasia Szarek, Theo Rosenfeld, Brandon Papo, Monte Pittman, Nicholas Olbina, Dean Benfit, Olga Loera, and Aris Le Beau.
Produced by Brendan Petrizzo and Michael P. Call, with a screenplay co-written by Call and Marc Gotlieb, the film is slated for release in 2026.

Morocco Named Country in Focus at EFM 2026
The European Film Market (EFM) has named Morocco as its 2026 Country in Focus. Festival Director Tricia Tuttle praised Moroccan cinema for its rich storytelling and global impact. She highlighted filmmakers such as Nabil Ayouch, Faouzi Bensaïdi, Asmae El Moudir, Halima Ouardiri, and Maryam Touzani, alongside a new wave of emerging talent.
The EFM will take place from February 12–18, 2026, celebrating Moroccan voices and their distinctive contributions to global cinema.
