Shantel VanSanten is on the move: The actress who plays FBI’s Special Agent Nina Chase is joining spinoff FBI: Most Wanted for its fifth season as a series regular, our sister site Deadline reports.
VanSantenboarded FBI in Season 4 when Chase temporarily filled in for Maggie after she was exposed to sarin gas in the line of duty. She also served as an undercover agent and continued to recur throughout Season 5 of the mothership series.
The actress’ big switch follows Alexa Davalos’ Most Wanted exit, which was announced in August. Davalos, who joined the cast at the start of Season 3 as agent Kristin Gaines, was “informed by a producer on set that she won’t be coming back” after filming her last scene of Season 4. Despite the abrupt departure, her exit was described as “amicable.”
FBI: Most Wanted has seen significant cast turnover since its launch. During Season 3, three cast members — Julian McMahon, Kellan Lutz and Miguel Gomez — all left the show for varying reasons. Dylan McDermott stepped in to play new team leader Special Agent Remy Scott, filling the void left by McMahon. Edwin Hodge, meanwhile, joined the cast in Season 4, replacing Gomez.
FBI and its two spinoffs FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted all return Tuesday, Feb. 13 on CBS.
