FBI’s Jeremy Sisto Addresses Possibility of Jubal Valentine Appearing on Tom Ellis’ New CBS Drama ‘CIA’

The FBI franchise has undergone a high level of pruning in the past few months, with a number of its offshoots getting cut by CBS. Thankfully, the flagship series starring Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki as its leads, remains on air. With fan-favorite spin-offs FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International officially ending their runs, CBS did have some exciting news in regard to expanding Dick Wolf‘s beloved franchise. A new series titled CIA is set to premiere in the 2025-2026 season. The upcoming show will star Tom Ellis (Lucifer) as a charismatic, rule-breaking CIA case officer. FBI‘s Jeremy Sisto wants his character, Jubal Valentine, to be invited to appear in the upcoming spin-off.

How things eventually transpired in FBI’s Season 7 finale – which placed the fate of at least one character up in the air, as well as the prospect of the FBI staff working for people who are the enemy – makes crossovers with certain characters possible. If that is the case, Sisto reveals in a conversation with ScreenRant, that he’d like Jubal to be considered. “This new CIA show is something that I’m hoping to be a part of,” Sisto said. “I hope that Jubal Valentine can help out with the CIA situation, but you don’t know. We don’t know if it will happen. I don’t know if I will get the call. We’ll see. But Jubal would love it. Alright, what’s next?” Sisto said.

What’s Tom Ellis’ ‘FBI:CIA’ About?

FBI' - Agent Hobbs' Death Affected This Character the Most

Ellis’ CIA will arrive in the fall and CBS has recently released a new TV promo to that effect. Introduced as “Hart Hoxton” in the new show, Ellis is excited for fans to see the show when it eventually premieres. ER‘s Eriq La Salle is reportedly tapped to direct the pilot episode of the spin-off, which the official synopsis reads: “CIA is a one-hour crime drama centered on two unlikely partners – a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (Tom Ellis), and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law. When this odd couple are assigned to work out of CIA’s New York Station, they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on U.S. soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength.

Showrunner for FBI: Most WantedDavid Hudgins, will serve as executive producer on the new series, which was initially planned as a backdoor pilot within the FBI series, but CBS opted for a direct-to-series order instead. In a previous conversation, Hudgins teased Ellis’ Hart Hoxton, saying:

“He is charming, smart, demanding, unpredictable, and funny, and he also operates in a very different world than traditional law enforcement. It will be fun to watch Tom take over this character and make him his own – he’s such a gifted actor.”
