FBI Star Addresses Isobel’s Fate After Poisoning, Teases Major Season 8 Changes.

FBI Star Shares How Forefront’s Crisis Impacts The Jubal & Isobel’s Team In Season 8

Alana de la Garza as Isobel Castille and Jeremy Sisto as Jubal Valentine in FBI season 7 episode 22
Warning: SPOILERS for FBI season 7, episode 22, “A New Day.”

An old menace resurfaces at the end of FBI season 7, and their newest threat to the 26 Fed building may affect Jubal Valentine and Isobel Castille’s team in ways that continue to be felt in the following season. The FBI season 7 finale begins with Jubal meeting an informant at a secret off-base site, but the office is raided before Jubal can get all of the information he needs. As it turns out, the feds are part of a targeted anti-America attack, the effects of which will almost certainly be felt by FBI’s cast of characters in future episodes.

It’s impossible to say at this point what FBI season 8 will truly look like, but Jubal actor Jeremy Sisto notes that the bureau can’t continue as is after the finale’s biggest reveal. After it’s learned that the FBI is once again dealing with the criminal organization known as Forefront, it’s also revealed that several of their members have infiltrated the bureau’s ranks. Speaking with Parade, Sisto notes how that reveal will have to force changes on the bureau in season 8:

“Yeah, to know that some people that were vetted, and they vet FBI agents a lot. To think that multiple of those people have turned out to be anti-government is probably going to be handled in the infrastructure. They vet pretty hard, they’re going to vet even harder after this. So listen, we’re going to reignite a trust in the organization, into the FBI, all the agents and analysts. There’s going to be something to address that from the top [down]. I’m not sure if Isobel makes it through this crisis. But I’m sure she and the ADIC, or whoever’s at the top, will figure out some way to figure out something. See how I did that?”

What Sisto’s Comments Mean For FBI Season 8
The Bureau’s Entire Structure Might Be In For A Change

There have been plenty of rumors about Alana de la Garza’s Isobel Castille leaving FBI, but those rumors gained a huge boost when Isobel seemed to be poisoned in the season 7 finale. Sisto’s comments don’t put an end to the rumor that Isobel may die going into FBI season 8, as there’s no objective reason to believe she’ll live. She hasn’t signed on to any projects that would make it difficult to continue with FBI, but that alone doesn’t mean her character is safe.

FBI season 7’s finale featured a cameo from a recognizable TV star, but who played Agent Kevin Saxton and where have you seen the actor before?

But Sisto’s comments go beyond Isobel’s fate. Whether she survives or not, the next season of FBI will have to dive deeper into how she got this way. As of now, the most obvious answer is that Forefront infiltrated the FBI with so much success that they gained access to Isobel in the process, including the ability to drug her food or drink. As Sisto notes, the bureau’s next run of new characters will need to be vetted more than ever before. That alone could alter the series significantly, but there are other considerations to take into account.

Our Take On Forefront’s Impact On FBI Season 8
They Could Become The Season’s Primary Threat
FBI Isobel and her husband toast
Losing Isobel would be a heartbreaker, especially now that FBI season 7 provided a better look at her married life. But whether she leaves or not, the threat Forefront just made to her life should be enough to make them the primary villains of FBI season 8. Fans might have the Maggie and OA romance to lean back on as something worth continuing with the series, but the characters in charge of the team need to warrant fulfilling storylines as well. Either Isobel needs to survive, or Forefront needs to receive all the consequences they deserve for killing her off.
