Ginsburg recently shared an image from the FBI set on Instagram. The snapshot captured Missy Peregrym (who plays Maggie Bell) and Johnny Boyd (Stuart Scola) playing musical instruments, with Zeeko Zaki (FBI Season 8’s OA) on the mic. The guitars were left untouched in the background. Peregrym and Zaki are wearing their grayish vests with the yellow FBI logo on the front. Ginsburg captioned the post, “You asked for the musical episode.”
FBI Season 8’s New Set Image Shows The Cast In A Band
The picture appears to have caught the FBI season 8 cast members while in mid-performance as a rock band. Peregrym has both hands on the keyboard while Boyd seems to be crashing a cymbal with his drumstick. Zeeko appears to be the lead singer as he has his black-gloved hand on the mic stand.
Although the FBI stars seem to be performing as a band, this could also be the cast just goofing around together on set. One giveaway is how Peregrym makes a silly face at the camera while turning her head. The former Reaper actress also has the wrong finger placement on the keys.
Why A Musical Episode Of FBI Would Be Very Interesting
During the early ’90s, there was a short-lived musical police drama called Cop Rock. In the Steven Bochco series, police officers burst into song-and-dance numbers as they dealt with cases involving murder and drugs. In the past decade, musical episodes became a trend, especially in genre shows.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer arguably kicked it off with its famous “Once More, with Feeling” episode in 2001. Since then, others have followed suit. Supergirl and The Flash had their musical-themed crossover titled “Duet.” Even Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural have had musical episodes. Despite the popularity of musical episodes, however, the chances of a similar installment happening in a Dick Wolf drama are slim to none.
A musical episode would be a good way to shake things up with the procedural, especially after seven seasons and with FBI‘s troubling trend of cast exits, but it is still unlikely to happen. Despite having a long career in the television industry, creator Dick Wolf has not produced a full-fledged musical episode for any of his shows, including FBI, Law & Order, and Chicago Fire.
