FBI season 6 release update and everything we know so far
October 4, 2023 – Fall TV just isn’t the same without new episodes of FBI on CBS. Sure, we could tune in to FBI True, the Paramount+ docuseries executive produced by Craig Turk, but true crime isn’t what we crave. It’s more cases with Maggie Bell, OA Zidan, Stuart Scola and Tiffany Wallace as they bring criminals to justice.
Like the rest of FBI fans, we’ve been patiently waiting to find out when we can expect the series to return for season 6 after the Hollywood strikes rocked the industry entertainment and on-ground productions were put on hold as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA were chosen to reach an equitable agreement with AMPTP.
There’s been an update on that, which is a good sign we’ll be reunited with Maggie and the gang soon. Here’s everything you need to know!
FBI season 6 release update
While we still don’t have a release date set, fans can count on season 6 to arrive in 2024. The question that still lingers is when it will come out next year. The writers’ strike has ended but the actors’ strike is still ongoing. As a result, actors cannot return to work yet, but Deadline reports that the FBI’s editing room is expected to begin operations the week of October 2.
The running commentary on how the 2023-2024 TV season would have played out mid-season was if the writers chose to take a week off on Christmas instead of two and the actors’ strike ended ends at the end of October, they will be able to prepare five episodes to return in the winter of 2024. However, this will be a 13-episode season, the usual 22-episode season will no longer be available unless a show is held for the 2024-2025 television year.
The FBI writers room getting back to work so quickly is a good sign that the series will be part of a network blockbuster that will air midseason. Additionally, the show is in favor of a shorter season. Season 3, with 15 episodes, is the shortest of the series and arguably the best of the five seasons shown so far.
In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with a rerun of the Tuesday 10pm broadcast. ET on CBS and rewatch our favorite episodes on Paramount+.
