In the “Monumental” episode of FBI Season 7, the team came face to face with a powerful online conspiracy group. Led by a popular podcaster known for espousing conspiracy theories, the group was convinced that the FBI was their enemy, and their leader, Duke Ducoyle (Jere Burns), flexed his large following to intimidate the bureau. After the case was done, the team thought they’d seen the last of Duke. However, a new case in “Devoted” reveals the opposite. “When two IRS special agents are stabbed to death in Brooklyn, the team is thrown into an investigation that leads back to the resurgence of the online conspiracy community of Duke Ducoyle, their suspect from a previous case,” the logline for the penultimate episode of the season teases. CBS released a sneak peek of the May 13 episode, which finds Duke making his comeback while he attempts to break out of prison.
When Duke was arrested in Episode 7, he gave Isobel a parting shot, which left her shaken. In the video below, he still has not let his hold on her go, and being a seasoned agent, she realizes that he has been trying to intimidate her by sending people to stalk her. Since then, things have changed for Isobel, and she has a family to protect. “When you have kids and a family, your perspective changes. What’s important to you, what fulfills you becomes completely different,” De La Garza said about Isobel’s family circumstances. Duke’s modus operandi is to rile up his followers and get them to do his dirty work. This time he has them flood the penitentiary, hoping their numbers will overwhelm law enforcement and he’ll get a chance to escape. The team cannot let that happen, but have they overestimated their power against a force of lies and manipulation?
‘FBI’ Will Be Back for Season 8
The show was the only one in the franchise to nab a renewal. FBI was renewed for two more seasons in 2024, keeping it on the air until 2028. While others air their series finales on May 20, FBI will be airing its season finale. “After Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) narrowly escapes a calculated assault on a secret FBI office, the team discovers a rogue terrorist group has infiltrated the FBI. Unsure of who to trust, the team must work in the shadows to unmask the culprits threatening the sanctity of the New York field office,” reads the logline for the episode “A New Day.”
