Ever since it kickstarted its run in 2020 as a police procedural television series following the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Fugitive Task Force (FTF), FBI: Most Wanted has managed to rank among CBS’ breadwinners. If anything, it has contributed mightily to the network’s success and viewership. Currently, Dylan McDermott is leading the show.
Talking about McDermott, the actor has been doing a pretty good job so far as he embodies the character of Remy Scott in the spin-off show of Dick Wolf’s FBI. But while fans may know him for his dark, wry sense of humor onscreen, the actor’s real-life choices could actually leave you amazed. Like how his favorite TV show is a Barbara Eden gem!
FBI: Most Wanted Lead Actor’s Favorite TV Show Stars Barbara Eden
For more than three seasons now, Dylan McDermott has been leading FBI: Most Wanted as Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott, and he has been doing a fairly good job at serving as the original lead Jess LaCroix’s (played by Julian McMahon) – the former FBI Supervisory Special Agent and Team Leader – replacement so far.
Onscreen, he is a skilled, intelligent, and physically capable agent who’s highly effective at his job and possesses a strong mind, besides being self-effacing and a bit weird, too, deeply committed to his work. Not to mention, his cynical and often sarcastic sense of humor makes up for a pretty good character trait for his Special Agent.
But offscreen, McDermott’s choices and favorites could be much beyond his fans’ wildest assumptions or expectations. For one, his favorite television show is actually the hit fantasy sitcom that raged on the screens from the mid-1960s to 1970, and was created by Sidney Sheldon, with Barbara Eden at its lead: I Dream of Jeannie (per IMDb).
The series had astronaut Tony Nelson (Larry Hagman) finding a 2000-year-old beautiful blonde genie named Jeannie (Eden) in a bottle after a flight. Jeannie turns out to be a mischief-prone genie – loyal, and a little innocent, but very much in love with her master, and has been amusing fans worldwide for decades since the show’s initial run.
After all, the show even managed to lure the 63-year-old Dylan McDermott in with her spectacular storyline and Eden’s unparalleled performance!
I Dream of Jeannie, Meanwhile, Really Turned Out to Be a Masterpiece
With a genius like Sidney Sheldon at its helm and the star-studded renditions from Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman, I Dream of Jeannie didn’t hesitate to become a fan-favorite real quick, becoming the first off-network series to best network competition in the ratings after winning its time period with a 13 rating and a 23 share of the audience.
From September 1965 to May 1970, the sitcom ran for over five seasons, ending its run after releasing 139 enchanting episodes.
Since then, it spawned two made-for-television reunion films that continued Jeannie and Tony’s story in successive years: I Dream of Jeannie… Fifteen Years Later (1985) and I Still Dream of Jeannie (1991).
A clear fan favorite, the show currently stands at a 7.4 approval score out of 10 on IMDb, with Amazon.in rating it 4.7 out of 5. That said, it’s only understandable how even Dylan McDermott couldn’t be spared from its charms!
