When FBI: International returns this fall, the series is going to look a bit different. The Fly Team lost three members in season 3 including their leader Scott Forrester. Their new supervisory agent has been cast which means we can expect a shift in dynamics as well.
What’s not in the cards, however, is a premiere in September. Though every season, with exception to the strike affected third season, has launched in the nine month of the year, that won’t be happening in 2024. The majority of the network’s scripted series will be debuting or coming back in October.
When does FBI: International return?
FBI: International season 4 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. ET after the season 7 premiere of FBI. An official episode count has yet to be announced, however, it’s expected that the season will have a full season order returning the show to a 20-22 episode run for its fourth installment.
Deadline reports that the cast didn’t receive the same reduced minimum episode guarantee that the stars of the flagship and FBI: Most Wanted did, so they likely won’t be missing from certain arcs or plots at random.
Cast
Returning cast members include:
Vinessa Vidotto as Special Agent Cameron Vo
Carter Redwood as Special Agent Andre Raines
Eva-Jane Willis as Europol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson
Christina Wolfe as Special Agent Amanda Tate
Jesse Lee Soffer has joined the cast of FBI: International
Fans of the One Chicago franchise will be excited to know Jesse Lee Soffer will have a lead role in FBI: International season 4. He, however, won’t be playing his Chicago P.D. character Jay Halstead. Though the two franchises do share a universe, he’ll be adopting a new role for the CBS program.
Soffer has been cast as Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, the Fly Team’s new Supervisory Special Agent who’s described as quite the charmer and a bit of a rake. Wes is said to be prone to using unconventional methods to get the job done, but he has “impeccable instincts” and a drive that pushes him to bring criminals to justice.
Why Scott Forrester isn’t in season 4
Wes’ addition to the Fly Team comes on the heels of Scott’s exit. He was last seen in the season 3 finale fleeing with his mother into Alaska. When the team were finally able to track him down, they breathed a sigh of a relief. However, his departure and subsequent decision to go off the grid has necessitated a new leader to take the reins.
We should note that this isn’t a temporary change. Luke Kleintank has left FBI: International. He cited the following for his decision:
“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International. This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life. I’m profoundly thankful for the extraordinary cast and crew of the show, who have not only been colleagues but also a family away from home. Their unwavering dedication and remarkable talents have made every moment on set an unforgettable journey that has enriched my life in countless ways. Lastly, I would also like to extend my thanks to the fans who have supported us through the first three seasons.”
More cast exits
Heida Reed won’t be back as Jamie Kellet. She was written out in the season 3 premiere as Kellet chose to resign her post and headed back to the states to a position in the D.C. field office. Greg Hovanessian also won’t be returning as FBI Special Agent Damian Powell. His character was transferred to undercover ops in season 3 episode 5.
There’s yet to be word on whether CBS is planning another three way crossover for the shows for the 2024-2025 TV season or at least a two show crossover like last year’s episode that saw Jubal working with the Fly Team.
