The FBI: Internationalseason 4 finale and series ending failed to remember Scott Forrester’s legacy properly. Forrester, who is played by Luke Kleintank, joined the series in season 1 as an FBI Supervisory Special Agent and Head of the International Fly Team. However, he left after season 1, and Kleintank’s character left the team to reunite with his mother, who is a fugitive, with the two later disappearing together. Despite Forrester leaving the series, FBI: International season 4 continued without him; Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, who is played by Jesse Lee Soffer, took over Forrester’s role.
FBI: International season 4’s finale, finale ended with a lot of action and talks about who would get a promotion, leaving the season on a cliffhanger. The finale focuses on Mitchell traveling to Japan to locate and arrest a serial killer was has killed an American woman. He tracked him down and was successful. Viewers were also hoping Vo, played by Vinessa Vidotto, and Raines, played by Carter Redwood, would find out if one of them got the GS-14 promotion. All the characters had open-ended storylines, leaving not much closure for FBI: International fans.
FBI: International Season 4 Finale Mainly Follows Mitchell In Japan
In the finale, Mitchell travels to Tokyo to work with Detective Reiko Isokawa and Kosuke Kubo to track down a serial killer after the murder of an American woman. Lloyd Acuff is their suspect, as he has a disturbing online presence. Eventually, they find evidence linking him to crimes and do an apartment, finding Polaroids of his victims. Mitchell then leaves for Japan with the help of the Fly Team in Budapest and Tokyo’s CCTV network to locate Acuff. Mitchell then negotiates with Acuff, leading to his arrest.
Mitchell was hard at work the whole time he was in Japan to catch the killer. The series finale really showed how Mitchell is an important part of the Fly Team and proved he was a great replacement for Forrester following his exit at the end of season 3. However, with FBI: International getting canceled before a season 5 could be made, no one will ever know if Mitchell could have reached the level that Forrester was at before he left the show.
Scott Forrester’s Original Fly Team Barely Gets Any Satisfying Send-Off
What was the most disappointing about the FBI: International season 4 finale is that it focused more on Mitchell in Japan than the rest of the original Fly Team. While Mitchell was a great addition to the show and the team, since this was the series’ final, it would have been nice to see Forrester celebrated in some way. The Fly Team, in general, wasn’t featured that much throughout the entire episode, with few updates provided from start to finish.
Forrester should have been mentioned in some way since he was an integral part of the show from seasons 1-3. He only left one season prior, so mentioning him and what he did for the Fly Team would have been a more satisfying send-off than the one he was given. It was as if Forrester wasn’t ever a part of the Fly Team.
Why FBI: International Should Have Highlighted The Fly Team Instead Of Just Mitchell
One of the biggest issues from the FBI: International season 4 finale was how it highlighted Mitchell but not the rest of the Fly Team. In a Reddit thread started by Cheeriosxxx, several viewers mentioned how the finale was very lackluster. One of the main complaints was that since the series is now canceled, the season should have ended with the Fly Team on a mission together. One user said: “Having spent years with this team, a more concerted effort should have been made to have them front and center. I think more could have been done to focus on where the members of the Fly Team were going.”
Even though Mitchell was Forrester’s replacement and the new show’s focal point, the fans would have liked to see the Fly Team on a mission together one last time. This finale left the series more open-ended and with little to no closure. Not only did it fail to remember Forrester’s legacy, but it also failed to give the fans what they wanted from the Fly Team.
