Last month, fans of Dick Wolf’s police procedural FBI found out that Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille (Alana de la Garza) actually has a husband, but his identity wasn’t revealed. Nevertheless, we now know who exactly the SAC is married to courtesy of TVLine, as Arrowverse icon Tom Cavanagh has been cast in the role. Cavanagh is widely known for his title role in the 2000 NBC sitcom Ed and his multiple roles on The Flash, which ran from October 7, 2014, to May 24, 2023, as well as the extended Arrowverse.
No one knew Isobel’s husband, Philip, existed, not even her closest co-workers, until the February 11 episode “Shelter,” when in a private conversation about keeping work and personal life separate, she told OA (Zeeko Zaki), “I’m married.” The episode also involved a gunman with ties to a Mexican cartel, who had opened fire at a homeless shelter.
At the time, Isobel and Phillip had been married for only two months, which so far has no issues, according to her. Also, the marriage now makes her a stepmom as her spouse “has three daughters, so I now have three daughters.” Isobel said this to OA, whom she also hoped to offer guidance with a struggle he was going through then relating to work and personal life. She explained that she had learned to leave her personal life “outside this building,” which clearly seems to be excellent advice.
Who Is Tom Cavanagh?
Cavanagh’s FBI debut is yet to have a broadcast date, but fans can expect more details in due course. Meanwhile, it goes without saying that the actor’s TV resume is very impressive and dates back to the late nineties. Speaking of his Arrowverse career, on The Flash alone, he played Harrison Wells (of Earth-1), Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash (disguised as Harrison Wells), “Harry” Wells (of Earth-2), “H.R.” Wells (of Earth-19), every member of “the Council of Wells” (and “the Council of Harrisons”), Sherloque Wells (of Earth-221) and Harrison Nash Wells a.k.a. Pariah. Besides these, the Canadian actor’s TV credits include Love Monkey, Eli Stone, Royal Pains, Scrubs, Trust Me and, most recently, guest spots on Blue Bloods and in the Superman & Lois series finale.
