Family Ties & Milestones: NCIS: LA’s 300th Episode Introduces Sam Hanna’s Father md14

CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles marks a major milestone with its 300th episode, and fans are in for an emotional treat: Special Agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) will reunite with his estranged father. TVLine gives an exclusive first look at the poignant storyline.

Titled “Work & Family” and airing Sunday, May 8, the episode introduces Richard Gant in a recurring role as Raymond Hanna, Sam’s father. Gant’s impressive TV credits include NYPD Blue, Deadwood, General Hospital, Men of a Certain Age, The Mindy Project, Greenleaf, The Neighborhood, and Magnum P.I., among others.

Fans are already familiar with Sam’s family — his son Aiden, daughter Kamran, and late wife Michelle. Raymond Hanna, a former Marine Colonel, sent young Sam to a military academy and was disappointed when Sam chose a Navy career over his father’s expectations.

In Gant’s first appearance, Sam moves in to care for his father, who is struggling with early-onset dementia, adding emotional depth to the long-running procedural.

“Reaching our 300th episode is such a blessing,” says NCIS: LA showrunner and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill. “We are incredibly grateful for the support of our studio, network, and especially our fans, who have stood by us for 13 seasons. It’s a privilege to work with this cast and crew, and we’re excited to continue this journey into Season 14.”

With this milestone, NCIS: LA not only celebrates longevity but also delivers heartfelt storytelling that explores the personal lives of its beloved characters.
