What’s Been Happening on ‘Chicago Fire’, ‘Chicago P.D.’ and ‘Chicago Med’?

In the season finale of Chicago Fire, Chief Dom Pascal became the prime suspect in a suspicious car fire involving Robert Franklin (Matthew Collins). Franklin is connected to Pascal’s late wife, Monica, who died in a fire two months prior. The incident raises questions about Pascal’s past and intentions. Meanwhile, Severide and Stella Kidd faced emotional turmoil as the expectant mother of the child they hoped to adopt changed her mind, leaving them devastated .

Meanwhile, on Chicago P.D., the Intelligence Unit was left in chaos after Deputy Chief Reid successfully dismantled their corrupt operation. Voight is under internal investigation, left reeling from the failure to stop Reid and the murder of Otero. Burgess has been suspended, while Torres has been arrested, both targeted as part of Reid’s strategic takedown. Atwater and Ruzek are still standing but shaken, unsure of how to proceed without the unit’s full backing.

The staff of Chicago Med are facing some serious potential shakeups, as hospital administrator Sharon Goodwin has been tasked with implementing difficult personnel cuts. Dr. Hannah Asher is unexpectedly pregnant, while Dr. Daniel Charles learned that his daughter, Anna, dropped out of Stanford and has returned to Chicago, prompting him to confront familial issues.

Netflix announces premiere dates, plural, for the final season of ‘Stranger Things’

The official release dates for Season 5 of Netflix’s beloved supernatural series “Stranger Things” have been announced, and yes – there’s more than one.

The show’s final season is set to hit the streamer in three chunks, with “Volume 1” premiering on November 26, “Volume 2” on Christmas Day, and the grand finale on New Year’s Eve. The long-awaited debut dates were revealed on Saturday during Netflix’s “Tudum 2025: The Live Event,” where Lady Gaga performed as the platform revealed various other details about content coming in the rest of 2025 and into 2026. (Gaga will appear in Season 2 of the streamer’s hit series “Wednesday.”)

For “Stranger Things,” core cast members Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin and Finn Wolfhard came out onstage at the Netflix event to reminisce about memories of making the show over the near decade since it premiered back in 2016. Their costars Millie Bobby Brown and Gaten Matarazzo each joined over video for the occasion as well.

A release date for Season 5 is a welcome announcement, as viewers have been waiting since way back in 2022 – when Season 4 aired and viewers were introduced to the terrifying Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) – for the show to return for its final installment. The delay between seasons was, in part, due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes of 2023 that ran into the show’s production window.

“Stranger Things” follows a group of teenagers and their families as they face off against an unnamed evil lurking in what’s known as the “Upside Down,” a mirror dimension existing underneath their small Indiana town.

The dark, retro-style series has been one of Netflix’s most-viewed series and has won 12 Primetime Emmys thus far.

Along with the above-mentioned actors, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Matthew Modine and Charlie Heaton star in the series. Additional cast members, who all became breakout stars, include Sadie Sink, Priah Ferguson, Joseph Quinn and Maya Hawke.

Netflix announced in 2023 that “Terminator” star Linda Hamilton is set to be a guest star on Season 5.

The final season began filming in 2024, according to a post on the official Netflix X page, and wrapped in December.

In January, Ross and Matt Duffer, the creators of the series, shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the final season, revealing at the time that they’d spent an entire year filming it and had captured over 650 hours of footage.

“It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane,” Ross Duffer said at the time.

Matt Duffer added that it “was super intense and emotional to film – for us and for our actors. We’ve been making this show together for almost ten years. There was a lot of crying. There was SO much crying.”

Mark your calendars, because we officially have a premiere date for Stranger Things season 5.

Netflix announced at its Tudum 2025 live event on Saturday, May 31, that the show’s final season will air in three parts: Volume 1 on Nov. 26, Volume 2 on Christmas and the series finale on New Year’s Eve.

At the live event, Stranger Things stars Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp shared their favorite memories from the show and hyped up the final season, before a teaser clip was unveiled, showing all the drama that’s to come.

Their co-stars Gaten Matarazzo and Millie Bobby Brown also made an appearance via pre-recorded video messages, expressing their love for the fans who have supported them through the years.

The streamer announced in January 2024 that production had begun on Stranger Things season 5, sharing a black-and-white photo of the cast. Co-creator Ross Duffer — one-half of the Duffer Brothers alongside Matt Duffer — then confirmed in December of that year that production had wrapped.

Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Wolfhard, Brown, Matarazzo, McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery and Maya Hawke are all set to return for season 5, as well as Brett Gelman, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Amybeth McNulty and Jamie Campbell Bower.

In June 2023, Netflix announced that Terminator star Linda Hamilton was joining the cast. Other newcomers include Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly and Alex Breaux.

A teaser shared in November 2024 revealed the titles for all eight episodes of season 5, ending with the series finale titled “The Rightside Up.” This brings the show full circle, as the season 1 finale was titled “The Upside Down.”

“In the fall of 1987, one last adventure begins,” read on-screen text in the teaser, revealing a time jump for the show after the previous season was set in the spring of 1986.

Hawke told PEOPLE in June 2024 that filming the final season had been “heartbreaking” for her.

“I mean, it’s the end of a really long journey. Longer for some of my castmates, even, than me. It’s really sentimental,” she said. “We shoot for a long time, so it’s reinvigorating [to bring] the joy and finding it everyday and making it new. It’s a really fun thing to do.”
