For several years, Raegan Revord was one of the most famous child actors in movies and TV shows. The former child star landed a career-defining role in the CBS spin-off prequel series Young Sheldon. Like its original series, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon had a massive audience following.
Young Sheldon ran for 7 seasons from September 25, 2017, to May 16, 2024. Although the series focused on a younger Sheldon Lee Cooper (Iain Armitage), other characters, like Raegan Revord’s Missy Cooper character, quickly became a fan favorite. Here’s more about Raegan Revord and her career beyond Young Sheldon.
Young Sheldon Was Raegan Revord’s First Major Project
With the actress born on January 3, 2008, Raegan Revord was 9 years old when Young Sheldon premiered in 2017. Although not her acting debut, Revord made her debut three years earlier in 2014 with ABC’s sitcom Modern Family. She only appeared in 2 episodes in 2014 and 2016 as Megan. Revord played Sheldon Cooper’s younger twin sister, Missy Cooper, on Young Sheldon. A complete opposite of her twin, Missy earned a reputation for her brashness and constant teasing of Sheldon.
While she may not share Sheldon’s intelligence, she makes up for it by being overly perceptive. Despite enjoying playing the bully, Missy shares an unspoken love for her family, especially her brothers. Besides their mother, she shows the most care for others and genuinely seeks to comfort them in times of distress. As child actors, watching the young cast grow into teenagers and young adults easily endeared them to the hearts of audiences. Unsurprisingly, audiences became invested in their growth in and beyond Young Sheldon.
Raegan Revord Began An Online Book Club In 2022
Beyond her love for her character in Young Sheldon and acting in general, Raegan Revord is an avid reader and writer. With a growing fanbase, Revord shared her passion for books with fans. In August 2022, she created “Read with Raegan,” an online book club on Instagram. The Instagram page has over 73,000 followers, with Revord sharing a book to read every month. Since 2022, especially with a growing following, Raegan Revord has kept the book club active. Irrespective of what the future holds with her acting career, Revord is keen on keeping the online book club active.
Besides the book club, Raegan Revord has been looking to publish her first book. As a passionate writer, Revord has spent years working on her first novel. The YA novel Rules for Fake Girlfriends is reportedly scheduled for release sometime in the autumn of 2025. Eager readers would have to wait a year to get their hands on the book. Rules for Fake Girlfriends will be published by Wednesday Books.
Raegan Revord On Reprising Missy Cooper & Appearance On The New Spin-off
Having played Missy Cooper for years, it isn’t one Raegan Revord is ready to let go of if the opportunity presents itself. Revord admits she grew to love Missy’s character and was excited about it from when she auditioned and landed the role. However, although each main character on Young Sheldon has their own story arc, at the conclusion of the series, Missy is the only character with no defined plot to expand on.
The possibility of a Young Sheldon spin-off was first announced in January 2024. Its title, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, was confirmed and greenlit for production in March 2024. The new spin-off series will focus on Georgie Cooper Jr. (Montana Jordan), his wife Amanda “Mandy” McAllister (Emily Osment), and their daughter CeeCee. Naturally, the Young Sheldon fandom had expected the Cooper siblings and their mother to make cameo or guest appearances.
However, Raegan Revord confirmed she was not invited to reprise her Missy role on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. This did not sit well with dedicated fans of Missy Cooper, who felt the character was again being relegated to the background. Whatever the showrunners’ decisions, Raegan Revord has stated she’s more than willing and ready to reprise Missy whenever called upon and is available.
Raegan Revord’s Future Film & Television Projects
With only a few months after Young Sheldon’s finale, Raegan Revord has yet to land a new project in film or television. However, with her talent, it’s only a matter of time before the calls start coming in. Although she enjoyed her time on Young Sheldon, she also doesn’t want to be typecast as a comedy actress. With the emotional episodes surrounding the death of George Cooper Sr., Revord is ready to take on more dramatic roles. The actress is open to expanding her range and hopes to land roles in other genres.
When interviewed by ScreenRant, Revord stated, “I would love to [and] I definitely want to. I’ve said this a few times. But comedy, it’s very easy to be pigeonholed into. And so I do want to explore the options. I’m the type of person that I can see myself acting in any type of genre: drama or sci fi, whatever. So I do want to explore the options and see what else is out there. But I love Missy dearly. She’s the first big character I’ve played and I felt I fell in love with her right off the bat from the audition. And so I definitely would love to return to her at some point.” Besides Raegan Revord, read exploring the Young Sheldon actor Lance Barber’s career timeline.
