Billie Matalon (Sofia Pernas) will return to Tracker season 2, episode 3, after her last appearance in season 1, episode 6, where she worked with the show’s main bounty hunter, Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), on a case to track down a racehorse. Episode 6 revealed that Billie was Colter’s old flame, who had kidnapped him during a joint mission to keep the bounty for herself. Despite their skepticism, the two worked together on the racehorse case, but it didn’t end up in a double-cross. In the upcoming episode, Billie goes to Colter to help track down a missing high school athlete. Pernas told TV Line that the “ice-breaking moment” when they were on the phone in episode 6 “gave Billie some comfort” to open up to Colter for help. The star also revealed that the episode will “look into her backstory,” where viewers will learn a lot about Billie’s childhood and her mother, gaining insight into “why she is who she is.” Here’s what she had to say: We get a glimpse of her backstory. I feel like we broke up in 106, and she’s comfortable in 203. That icebreaker moment [on the phone in Season 1, Episode 6] gave her a certain comfort in being able to say, I need help, and she asks him for help in the third episode. You understand why she is who she is, in a lot of ways, and that comes from her mother. In my mind, she’s buried this really deep, and she’s made a living off of this wall that she’s built up. I don’t think it’s something she’d just say to someone over coffee, so I wanted it to be more than that.
Harley shared that when Billie shows up, Colter is initially “skeptical,” since she stole him, but in this episode, Billie “really opens up” to Colter in a way she hasn’t before. The actor revealed that Billie’s backstory is “very sad,” but it’s also “a story of triumph and perseverance.” Check out his comments below: They have a beautiful scene where she really opens up to him in a way that you do. [he tells Pernas] The way you portray it is great. Your performance shows that you’ve never shared [this information] with anyone, ever.
Ever since Tracker season 1, episode 6, introduced Billie, a woman who values relationships and exes, viewers have been asking questions about. News from the two stars confirms that Billie will be returning as part of the Tracker season 2 cast. Harley’s comments also suggest that despite the two working together in episode 6, Colter still hasn’t been able to fully trust Billie or fully welcome her back into his life. With the new episode giving Billie a backstory, viewers could see a step forward in their relationship and a deeper connection.
Harley’s comments about Billie trusting Colter with something she’s never told anyone else also reveal that Billie may consider Colter the only person she can talk to and ask for help. This also adds some insight into Billie and Colter’s unique romance. Giving Billie a backstory is also a positive sign that the character could get more screen time in the future.
Tracker season 2 added more love interests for Colter, but none of them lasted long. Billie is different from all of Colter’s other love interests because she is a reward seeker just like Colter. Season 1, episode 6 saw them working together on a case. While viewers expected rivalry and competition, there was nothing of the sort. Instead, they complemented each other and worked well together.
With Billie opening up more about herself to Colter and allowing herself to be vulnerable in Tracker season 2, episode 3, there is a chance that Billie could be Colter’s first major on-screen love interest. Their relationship has given fans a lot to root for since Tracker season 1. Billie shows a softer side to Colter. On top of that, they share a very special understanding of working in the same field. Billie is a very strong candidate for a major love interest.
