As NCIS: Los Angeles wrapped its 14-season run in May, fans were treated to explosive action, heartfelt reunions, and emotional farewells. But for actress Medalion Rahimi, who portrayed Special Agent Fatima Namazi, one storyline was left gently unresolved — a budding office romance that could have added a whole new layer to her character’s arc.
In an exclusive interview with HELLO!, Rahimi reflected on what she wishes had been explored before the curtain fell on the long-running CBS procedural. While Fatima had grown into a fan-favorite over the years — thanks to her resilience, compassion, and sharp instincts — there were still corners of her story that remained in the shadows.
“I would have loved to see her interact more with her parents,” Rahimi shared. “There was this inkling of a romantic relationship, but we didn’t really get to see it fully wrap up… It seems like things were turning out well for her in that department.”
She’s referring, of course, to the fan-favorite “Foundtree” ship — the close-knit friendship (and potential romance) between Fatima and fellow agent Devin Roundtree (played by Caleb Castille). The duo’s chemistry didn’t go unnoticed. Viewers began shipping the pair early on, and even official NCIS: LA social media accounts joined in on the fun.
Their bond felt natural: Roundtree, the promising former FLETC recruit turned full-time field agent, and Fatima, the quick-thinking, tech-savvy operative with a fierce heart. As they grew closer, fans hoped for more romantic moments — but time ran out before their connection could be fully realized on screen.
A Bittersweet Goodbye Behind the Scenes
As production on the final season wrapped, emotions ran high. Rahimi admitted she was one of the cast members who had the hardest time holding back the tears.
“There were lots of tears,” she confessed, laughing. “I think I was one of those people [who cried the most]. But the tears were from joy and celebration.”
The final day on set was filled with hugs, laughter, and pride — a fitting tribute to a series that redefined the modern action procedural.
“Honestly, I think everyone feels good about it,” Rahimi added. “We came out on top. Everyone should be really proud.”
NCIS: LA’s Legacy — and What Could Have Been
CBS confirmed NCIS: Los Angeles would conclude with Season 14, marking the end of a successful chapter in the NCIS franchise. In a statement, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach praised the cast and crew:
“From Day 1, the cast, producers and crew were amazing Network/Studios partners, and their teamwork, talent and spirit vividly came through on the screen.”
And while fans may never get to see how Fatima and Roundtree’s romance might have unfolded, the characters — and the actors who brought them to life — continue to live on in the hearts of viewers. For Rahimi, perhaps the greatest tribute is the fanfiction already emerging to fill in the blanks.
Because in the world of NCIS: LA, no story truly ends — it simply leaves room for the next mission.
