Everything We Know About ‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2

Sometimes, a woman craves a Hallmark vibe show with a Western flair and a healthy dose of soap-level drama. Thank goodness Netflix’s Ransom Canyon fulfills that urgent need. The delicious series, starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, follows three ranching families in a small Texas town as they compete for control of the land and navigate love and loss. The show premiered on Netflix on April 17, and the girlies are obsessed — it’s currently the most popular show on the streamer besides You

Ransom Canyon was created, written, and executive produced by Wednesday writer April Blair! Now, that’s what I call versatility. “Ransom Canyon isn’t just a town, it’s an idea,” April told Netflix about the new show. “It’s the painful longing for your first love. It’s the burning desire to protect your family. It’s cowboys and lovers, grifters and thieves. Lust, deceit, heartache, home … Ransom has it all.” While I appreciate her poetry, none of us needed convincing to binge the drama the second it came out. In fact, we’ve already finished all 10 episodes and want more.

Fortunately, it sounds like we are getting more: Here’s everything to know about Ransom Canyon season 2, including the release date, cast, and plot.

When Is Ransom Canyon Season 2 Coming Out?

The show hasn’t officially been renewed for as season yet, but April did confirm that she’s hard at work writing the second installment now! I do expect this show to get renewed, considering how popular it is on Netflix already. Although there’s obviously no season 2 premiere date, we’re probably looking at 2026 or early 2027 if it does happen.

Ransom Canyon Season 2 Cast

We won’t get any casting announcements until season 2 is actually confirmed, but I have some educated guesses. I fear James Brolin definitely won’t be returning to the show (because RIP, Cap) unless there are flashback scenes with his character. However, I’m guessing we can expect to see most of the other main cast members, including: Minka Kelly (Quinn O’Grady), Josh Duhamel (Staten Kirkland), Eoin Macken (Davis Collins), Jack Schumacher (Yancy Grey), Marianly Tejada (Ellie Catawnee), Lizzy Greene (Lauren Brigman), Philip Winchester (Sheriff Brigman), Andrew Liner (Reid Collins), and Garrett Wareing (Lucas Russell).

Ransom Canyon Season 2 Plot

According to April, there will probably be a time jump in season 2 (should we get one). “We would need to because I don’t want to do anything in New York,” she explained to TV Insider. At the end of the first season, Quinn is headed to New York for six months. “Quinn needs to go away and save her ranch, and we need to see what the implications are for that punch that Davis goads Staten into doing and what that plot between Davis and Staten’s father, the senator, is like,” April added. She said it’s “not set in stone,” but a six-month time jump is likely at this point.

It sounds like season 2 would explore Yancy’s past a bit more. “There are still things from his past that are unresolved so that he has some more fun complications in Season 2, and twists and turns,” April teased to Woman’s World. She also revealed that Ellie’s season 2 journey would be less “man-centric.” Ellie’s “becoming a little more of her own person” and she’s “standing her ground” more, per the show creator. And of course, we’d also get more of the juicy Staten and Quinn saga.
