Erin Reagan Returns! Bridget Moynahan Joins Boston Blue Premiere in Powerful Cameo

Why so blue? Easing your transition from “Blue Bloods,” another familiar face will be popping up in the series premiere of CBS’ upcoming “Boston Blue“: Bridget Moynahan is set to reprise her role as Erin Reagan, and has also signed on to direct an episode of the spinoff.

The Eye network announced Friday that Moynahan will make a “special guest appearance” on the premiere, which will follow Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) as he becomes a detective with the Boston police department. The network also revealed she will direct an episode in Season 1; she had previously directed multiple episodes of “Blue Bloods.”

Wahlberg is joined on “Boston Blue” by Sonequa Martin-Green as Lena Silver, Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver, Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver and Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters.

Here’s the logline to the new series, which premieres Friday, October. 17 at 10 p.m. ET: “In ‘Boston Blue,’ a universe expansion of the long running top drama ‘Blue Bloods,’ Wahlberg will reprise his role as NYPD Officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.”

CBS Studios is behind the show, along with Jerry Buckheimer TV. Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis are the showrunners and executive producers. Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed and Wahlberg also serve as EPs; the series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Moynahan’s career kicked off with a recurring role on “Sex and the City,” followed by her film debut in “Coyote Ugly.” Her other credits include “The Sum of All Fears,” “The Recruit,” “I, Robot,” “John Wick” (and its sequel) and “The Journey Home.” She starred on “Blue Bloods” throughout its run from 2010 to 2024.
