When Kelly Severide realizes something is missing, he doesn’t rest until the problem is solved. No one can stop him from doing so (Stella can attest to that), and those who know him understand that he needs to be allowed to pursue his leads. The new head of Firehouse 51 doesn’t know Severide like everyone else, but according to the Chicago Fire Season 12, Episode 6, “Birds of Prey” spoilers, Chief Pascal is about to find out. According to the official logline below, Kelly finds himself in the middle of another investigation, while the promo video teases a clash between him and Pascal when Pascal intervenes.
“Severide is drawn into an Illinois State Police investigation after an illegal gun is discovered during a call. A bird disturbs Mouch As usual, Severide’s case begins with a discovery during a call. Fire crews respond to an emergency where Kelly discovers several guns. “They’re all ghost guns,” he says in the promotional video above. It’s unclear if their presence in the house has anything to do with the emergency, but knowing Severide, he’s interested in finding out. However, something strange happens when the police arrive but take no action. “We’re going to put this case on hold,” Pascal says as he shares a strange conversation with the responding police. “I just don’t understand why you suddenly want to bury this case,” Severide confronts Pascal. “I said, back off!” Pascal roars. Telling Severide to back off is like urging him on in the strongest possible terms. When Pascal first appeared on the fire department, he was met with mixed reactions. Kelly was largely indifferent to him, even as Stella viewed everything with anger and dislike. This argument over the gun investigation will surely reveal the real Severide to Pascal.
The diary entry reveals the escalation in Carver’s situation. Not only is he struggling with Violet’s attraction, but he’s doing it in the worst possible way. He stays out late and appears to have spent the night farming but refuses to go into the fire station. With Stella’s keen eye, he’s about to shake the world.
