It’s been easy to notice that Theo hasn’t been himself since returning to Salem. He broke up with Claire, was summoned home by the DiMera side of the family, and relived some high school bullying, all while navigating the betrayal of JJ coming a cop again. While Days of our Lives fans are loving Theo’s new portrayer, they’re not loving the downfall between him and JJ.
Rehashing The Past
It’s been eight years since JJ (Casey Moss) made the rookie mistake of shooting before thinking and shot a young Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews), who wound up in a coma and temporarily paralyzed. While it traumatized Theo, the incident led JJ to rock bottom, only to be saved by Gabi (Cherie Jimenez).
Now, just as JJ gets a fresh start at the Salem PD, in comes Theo, in disbelief JJ would return to the force without giving him any warning. JJ swears he’s learned from his past mistakes, but Theo isn’t backing down this time around. He’s pushing for JJ to be held responsible for what he did to him, and even reminded Jada (Elia Cantu) of the harm her detective caused.
“This racial profiling story wasn’t so good the first time. Not sure we needed to revisit it. I’m also not sure JJ was actually in the wrong,” one fan admitted on X (formerly Twitter), while another noted, “This Theo/JJ confrontation should have happened years ago. Instead of JJ suicide attempt, or their partnerships in Africa. It’s also hard to make sense of it because we have barely seen these characters.”
However, one fan provided everyone with the lore that we need in order to support this storyline: “Theo has experienced lots of trauma in his life on both sides. BTW his uncle, his namesake Theo Carver, was killed by a crooked police captain named Richard Cates 40 years ago. He has every f—ing right to discuss his trauma after being shot by JJ so he can heal.”
