Donnie Wahlberg’s 2 Kids: All About Xavier and Elijah
‘Blue Bloods’ star Donnie Wahlberg’s kids are taking a different approach to fame
Donnie Wahlberg’s kids — Xavier and Elijah — are making their own mark in the music industry.
Over the years, as he evolved from a celebrated New Kids on the Block member to a lead on the longtime CBS drama Blue Bloods, Donnie has held family at the center of his life.
Amid his rise to fame, Donnie and his ex, Kimberly Fey, welcomed their son Xavier in 1993, followed by Elijah in 2001. Although he has publicly praised Xavier and Elijah, Donnie tries to maintain their privacy in interviews and social media. Still, the singer has shared a few sweet anecdotes about his kids over the years.
Since marrying wife Jenny McCarthy, Donnie has blended their families, and she has taken the role of stepmother to his boys with stride. (The Masked Singer judge has a son of her own, Evan.)
Jenny has shared how wonderful of a father Donnie is, writing a heartfelt Father’s Day message on Instagram.
“You give our children someone to admire, respect, and inspire to be like,” she wrote. “You are such an amazing father, on top of everything else! I’m so grateful to be sharing my life, our love, & parenthood with the most amazing man I’ve ever known.”
Here’s everything to know about Donnie Wahlberg’s kids: Xavier and Elijah.
Donnie shares Xavier and Elijah with Kimberly
In the early ’90s, Donnie and Kimberly began dating after she collaborated on a New Kids on the Block album, and they hit it off.
The former couple welcomed their first child, Xavier, in March 1993. Several years later, Donnie and Kimberly tied the knot in 1999 before welcoming their second son, Elijah, in August 2001. The birth of Donnie’s sons deeply affected his perspective on life.
“It sounds cliche, but I stopped living for me and started living for him. It stopped being about my legacy and became about my ability to provide for him. I was 23. I was terrified,” the singer told The Mercury News in 2013.
Donnie and Kimberly announced their split and filed for divorce in 2008, which was finalized two years later. Since then, they’ve remained friendly with each other.
Donnie’s kids are performers like him
Music runs in the family: Xavier and Elijah have followed in their parents’ footsteps and found success in the music industry.
While Xavier doesn’t have social media to promote his music, he is in a metal band called Upon Stone, based out of Los Angeles. He is the vocalist and bassist in the group.
As for Elijah, he started his own band called Pink Laces and its dedicated Instagram account features several photos of him in the studio playing several different instruments.
Like his dad, Elijah’s music has had international reach. In 2023, he was on the cover of the Japanese magazine Jado magazine and opened up about his music.
Donnie rarely posts about Xavier and Elijah to respect their privacy
Donnie isn’t often seen with his sons — in person or online — for an important reason. During an appearance on Rachael Ray’s talk show, he shared his elder son’s wishes to stay out of the public eye.
In the clip, Donnie mentioned how he is “not supposed to” talk about Xavier on TV. “My older son— I’m not going to say his name because he’ll get mad at me if he happens to see this — but he’s in a band.”
The actor went on to describe how he and Xavier talk about music even if their taste is different, but at the end of the day, he prefers to be out of the spotlight.
Donnie also talked about how Elijah loved to perform onstage with New Kids on the Block when he was 9 years old, while Xavier enjoyed playing his own music.
Donnie has paid tribute to his kids on social media
On Father’s Day in 2019, Donnie made a rare post on Instagram that featured an image of him with Xavier and Elijah as kids.
“#HappyFathersDay to the millions of other lucky guys (like myself) who have the honor of calling themselves a dad and sharing in the most important responsibility that a man will ever have in his lifetime — fatherhood,” he captioned it. “Keep doing your very best! It will always be good enough!”
