“Does Time Stand Still in Virgin River”: Does Have Time Holes? How Does Netflix Explain Lauren Hammersley’s Pregnancy?

Back in 2019, Netflix came up with the idea of adapting the Virgin River novels into a live-action series. The series managed to garner high ratings as mysteries and romance surrounded a rural Northern California town.

Well, with plenty of mystery abound, fans spotted a huge plothole in the Netflix series. With the main character Melinda Monroe being pregnant, fans speculate that Virgin River takes place where time ceases to exist!

Netflix Has Got Some Explaining To Do For Virgin River

The Netflix series debuted in 2019 and fans were surprised to see a decent series with intriguing and merging storylines surrounding romance and murder all happening in a rural California town. With Virgin River getting pretty great reviews, the series was renewed for a second season.

While continuing the tradition, Virgin River is currently in the 5th season but there seems to be one single complication confusing fans. Lauren Hammersley portrays the role of Charmaine Roberts in the iconic series and her character was pregnant in the first episode of the first season.

With the fifth season currently running, her character is still pregnant and has not delivered a baby yet! Several people on Reddit questioned whether the events that took place over the 5-year range in real life were less than 9 months in Virgin River. Other people questioned that whether time stood still in the rural Northern Californian town. Fans took to Reddit and alleged various theories to blame.

“Am I crazy or have the last 5 seasons all occurred in less than 9 months? Does time stand still in Virgin River?”

“The real reason Mel moved to Virgin River… while the rest of the world ages four years, the residents of Virgin River age only five months.”

And to sum it all up,

“Jack was shot in the abdomen and completely recovered. Same with Hope recovering from being critically injured. Mel was able to get in vitro fertilization in one afternoon. Lilly gave birth, abandoned her baby, got her back, was diagnosed with cancer and died. And Charmaine is still pregnant.”

With the SAG-AFTRA strike almost about to reach an end, Alexandra Breckenridge talked about the potential updates regarding the next season of Virgin River and they do not sound too promising.

Virgin River Season 6 Is On The Horizon

With the Netflix series wrapping up season 5 in November, a 6th season is allegedly in development as things don’t seem to be coming to an end. Alexandra Breckenridge, the leading lady of the series, filmed a video and shared it around the world which had an update regarding the Netflix series.

“I feel like I’ve been cooking since I got back from dropping off my daughter at school. I’m trying to do something fun and creative with my time because SAG is on strike and I can’t go back to work and I can’t even talk about work. So, if all y’all are trying to send me messages asking about work-related things, I can’t answer you and I’m really sorry about that,” said Breckenridge (via Hello Magazine).

The series recently took a pause with the 10th episode being released on 7th September 2023. Virgin River is expected to continue from where it left off on 30th November when season 5 comes to a conclusion. The 2019 series is available to stream on Netflix around the world.
