A new FBI spinoff series has entered development at CBS. It marks the latest TV show from crime procedural mastermind Dick Wolf, as well as the third spinoff made for FBI.
Reportedly, FBI: CIA will follow a “dedicated, strait-laced FBI agent and a street-smart CIA agent [who are] are part of a new, clandestine taskforce charged with solving and preventing domestic terrorism in and around New York City.” Along with the two unnamed FBI and CIA agent lead roles, a third character is also going to be part of the backdoor pilot episode and would be one of the three regulars in the spinoff.
Casting Is Underway for FBI: CIA
Casting is now underway so no actors have yet been attached to these roles. Wolf is executive producing FBI: CIA alongside Hudgins, Perlman, Chasteen, and Peter Jankowski of Wolf Entertainment. Universal Television is producing with CBS Studios.
There has also been new casting information revealed about FBI. After Lisette Olivera only joined the show for a handful of episodes, meant to replace Katherine Renee Kane, she was gone just as quickly as she arrived. It was recently reported that Emily Alabi (S.W.A.T.) had been cast to join FBI for its current seventh season, cast as a new agent for a recurring role. The goal is for Alabi to potentially be upped to series regular with FBI Season 8, but given what happened with Olivera, it could be that they’ll wait to see how this new character gels before making that particular commitment.
