Dermot Mulroney Files for Divorce After 15 Years: A Love Born Through Music Ends in Silence

Dermot Mulroney has filed for divorce from his wife of 15 years, Prima Apollinaare.

According to court documents obtained by People, the 61-year-old “Chicago Fire” actor submitted a petition on June 21 to dissolve their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The documents list their date of separation as “TBD.” Mulroney, who appears to be representing himself in the case, has requested joint legal and physical custody of their two daughters—Mabel Ray, 17, and Sally June, 15.

Divorce Terms Include Custody, Spousal Support, and Asset Division

The actor also asked that legal fees be split evenly and requested spousal support for himself while seeking to terminate the court’s ability to award support to Apollinaare.

Although the couple has not finalized how their assets will be divided, Mulroney indicated that “all community earnings and accumulation during marriage through the date of separation” should be considered community property.

A Relationship Built on Music and Film
Mulroney met Apollinaare in 2008, shortly after his divorce from actress Catherine Keener. They began dating that same year and welcomed their first daughter, followed by a second, before officially marrying in December 2010.

The couple reported connected through their mutual passion for music. Mulroney is a trained cellist and has contributed to film scores for projects including Planet of the Apes and entries in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Apollinaare, originally born Tharita Cutulle, is a singer-songwriter from Italy. She changed her name in 2015 for unspecified reasons.

In a 2023 interview with music label Lost in the Manor, she said, “[I] got into music since I was born. My mom is a singer. My dad played trumpet and piano.”

The two occasionally worked together in the industry. In 2010, Apollinaare was named as a producing partner for a biopic Mulroney was slated to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Despite their shared love of the arts, Apollinaare wasn’t always fond of her husband’s film choices. In a conversation with the New York Post, Mulroney shared that she wasn’t a fan of his horror films.

“I don’t think she’ll probably even see this movie because I know what her tolerance is,” he said of “Scream IV”. “She can’t even look at half of the posters.”

Mulroney’s first marriage to Keener lasted from 1990 to 2007. He and Apollinaare have maintained a relatively low profile during their marriage, rarely appearing together in public aside from industry events.

The divorce filing marks another high-profile celebrity split in 2025.
