Days of Our Lives is celebrating its 60th anniversary this November, and now the show has confirmed some of the familiar faces that will be joining in the celebration.
Head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford spoke with TV Insider about their plans for the series and specifically teased the upcoming anniversary, marking six decades of the long running soap opera.
The soap previously teased that the anniversary would focus on a huge hospital gala honoring the late Tom Horton (played by the late Macdonald Carey). After months of speculation it was confirmed that fan favorites Eli and Lani Grant (Lamon Archey and Sal Stowers) would be making their return. In addition, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) will be returning along with Jennifer’s brothers Mike Horton (Roark Critchlow) and Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo). Lucas’s son Will Horton (Chandler Massey) will be returning, along with his mother Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and her twin-brother Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan).
Additional returns include Andrew Donovan (Colton Little), his husband Paul Narita (Christopher Sean), fan favorite Steve Olson (Stephen Schnetzer) and original cast member Marie Horton (Maree Cheatham).
Fans can also look forward to the introduction of Michael Roark and Hank Northrop in two unannounced roles. Early next year fans will see Conner Floyd take over the role of Chad Dimera from Billy Flynn, and a yet to be announced actor is expected to assume the role of Javi Hernandez after Al Calderon announced his exit from the Peacock streaming series.
Earlier this summer Days of Our Lives released a preview of the stories to come, including a first look at the hospital gala event.
During the preview Jennifer is seen saying, “With the opening of the Dr. Tom Horton free clinic my grandfather’s legacy will continue to serve the community.” As the camera pans viewers see the return of Jack Deveraux, Mike Horton, as well as Marie Horton, and Will Horton.
