David Boreanaz may have loved playing Jason Hayes on SEAL Team, but the actor never forgets where he came from. That’s why Boreanaz has a very clear answer to the possibility of resurrecting Bones. But could Bones return?

“It’s the work ethic that we’ve put into these characters and what we’ve put out that’s entertaining, and I can’t tell you how much love and admiration we’ve gotten from the fans for these two characters. And it would be great to see them come back,” Boreanaz said, noting that a reboot would also be “easy” because “it’s so much fun.”

Last year, show creator Hart Hanson also spoke about the possibility, telling Variety: “We’re in touch. Everyone on ‘Bones’ is in touch. At different times, we’ll ask each other, ‘What are you doing?’” Is it available?’” Hanson admits that the reality of TV rights makes things complicated, but adds that “We keep talking. And every now and then, we all get nostalgic enough to think, ‘Maybe we should do it again.’”

Of course, there’s a major caveat for Hanson. “Of course, it all depends on David and Emily. If they’re not both, then no.”

Bones ran for 12 seasons and over 240 episodes, starring Boreanaz and Deschanel, along with Tamara Taylor, John Francis Daley, TJ Thyne, and Michaela Conlin.

More than a decade before his time on Bones, Boreanaz played the vampire Angel on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Angel, another show with a loyal fan base that fans wouldn’t mind seeing him return to. Basically, wherever Boreanaz went, he made an impression.
