“David Boreanaz Shares Heartfelt Moment With SEAL Team Co-Star A.J. Buckley After Latest Episode, Stirring Up All the Emotions”

Spoilers ahead for SEAL Team Season 7, Episode 9, “The Sea and the Hills.” Read at your own risk!

The penultimate episode of SEAL Team set up a tense finale to air on the 2024 television schedule. That’s saying a lot, since emotions were running high. It’s hard to say how the military drama will wrap up the main characters’ stories and who might not survive. But other than that, ahead of the finale and after the latest episode, David Boreanaz shared an emotional post with co-star A.J. Buckley. And, yes, I’m really feeling it.

On “The Sea and the Hills,” Bravo prepares to embark on their final mission as a full team, when David Boreanaz’s Jason is called in for a mission of his own: assassinating Ross Curtis, the man who hijacked the U.S. During his time with the U.S. Army Special Forces, Curtis was in Honduras in 2004 and trained with Honduran soldiers, including fentanyl drug trafficking leader Ramon Nazario.

So Bravo was once again separated, and it was unknown if the group would ever see their fearless leader again. After the episode premiered, Boreanaz took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of him and A.J. Buckley hugging. Not only did it symbolize Jason and Sonny saying goodbye, but Boreanaz and Buckley also symbolized a breakup: Seeing the two of them hug was sweet and enough to make anyone emotional. It’s even sweeter when you consider that this could have been one of the last times the two stars were on set together, if not the last time they filmed together.

It’s disappointing that the series finale will separate Jason and Bravo, but that narrative decision makes the stakes that much higher. Not only are both missions dangerous, but whoever survives could face a lot of internal conflict if their partner dies. With that in mind, the final hug between Jason and Sonny becomes that much more surreal and something I don’t need to think about, at least not right now.

It seems like David Boreanaz can’t stop teasing what could happen in the series finale. He recently revealed the final scene of the series, and it shows Jason in full hazmat gear, head to toe, ready as always for whatever mission he’s on. Now, with the finale less than a week away, things feel a lot more real, and I wish it weren’t.

While fans are still mourning the death of Max Thieriot’s Clay Spenser, as well as Bravo, it’s very likely that at least one member of the team won’t survive the series finale. And, if I may guess, it’s likely that Jason will be that person. Hopefully, in a week, I won’t be crying over that reason again when I look back at this hug photo.

It’ll be interesting and heartwarming to see how SEAL Team ends after seven seasons. I also wouldn’t be surprised if David Boreanaz and the rest of the cast share more emotional posts in the coming days. The final season, which has been a hit on the streaming service, will come to an end when the series finale premieres on Sunday, October 6 for Paramount+ subscribers.
