David Boreanaz Says He Just Moved His Son Out of His College Apartment: ‘It Was Like a Tornado’
David Boreanaz plays an elite soldier on the military drama SEAL Team, but when he’s not on screen, he’s just like any other dad.
“I just helped my son [Jaden, 22] move out of his New York apartment,” he tells PEOPLE about what he’s been doing in between talk shows and interviews to promote the seventh and final season of SEAL Team.
“It’s been a test of patience!” he laughs. “My son has been packing and organizing most of his stuff for the new tenants while I’ve been helping out from the sidelines, but it’s been a whirlwind.”
He jokes, “Parenting is a journey. It never ends and it never gets easier!”
The Bones alum said his son is leaving the city to pursue his passions.
“He went to NYU, but he decided to take a break last year. He’s an artist and a musician, so he’s always been true to his soul… you have to follow your heart,” he said, adding that he’s doing the same.
Boreanaz announced in November that he would be pursuing new passions after the final season of SEAL Team (which premieres August 11 on Paramount+).
“There are things in the works,” he said, adding that he couldn’t talk about them yet. “But some of the things that I planted a long time ago are starting to take root.”
While he’ll miss SEAL Team—and the compliments he received from real elite soldiers who thanked him for his accurate portrayal of military life—he won’t miss what the intense photoshoots did to his body.
“I had four MRIs in four months!” he says.
“I take really good care of myself, but at some point your body doesn’t move the same way.”
As he prepares for his next move, he says he’s enjoying the fact that his forensic drama Bones is being discovered by a new audience as it streams.
David Boreanaz Says It’s ‘Weird’ When Young Fans Discover Bones: ‘It’s a Very Fun Show’
“I did LIVE with Kelly and Mark the other day [for the final season of SEAL Team], and these two young girls were there for a fashion show, literally 10 and 12 years old,” he said.
“Their mom was there, and she said they were so excited for me to be there because they love Bones, and I was just sitting there thinking, ‘That’s weird!'”
As for his 15-year-old daughter Bella — is she a Bones fan?
“My daughter is an amazing equestrian,” he said. “She’s an adventurous soul who loves life. Both of my kids are pursuing their own goals. I’m very protective of them, but they’re all great. My son is a singer, artist and songwriter, my daughter is in high school. They’re all great.”
