“David Boreanaz Reveals His Intense Workout Routine
SEAL TEAM” DAVID BOREANAZ DON’T just throw himself into his workouts. The TV icon—from Buffy and Angel to Bones to his current role on CBS/Paramount+’s SEAL TEAM, he’s been a mainstay on the network for nearly 30 years—has been spending more time on his joints.
“For me, it’s all about recovery and how fast I recover, whether I’m working out or doing extra training,” he says. Boreanaz tore a muscle in his shoulder and needed to address other issues with his knee and hip before he started warming up and training.
Boreanaz opened up his home gym to the MH crew so we could see his workouts. He was joined by his trainer, Roy Paras, who stretched him out before the session and guided him through the workout. The pair work out three times a week (when Boreanaz’s body and schedule allow), and the actor swims on days when he can’t fit in a workout. He’ll also incorporate boxing workouts once or twice a week to keep himself active.
The actor’s current role may be his most physically demanding, as he plays a high-ranking SEAL. With his injury history, he doesn’t exactly mimic what real-life SEALs go through to train for their cause. “I don’t do military-style training,” he says. “I just do what works for me.”
