David Boreanaz Heartbroken as Hollywood Icon Ryan O’Neal Passes Away!

David Boreanaz is paying tribute to his former Bones co-star, who passed away at age 82 on Friday, Dec. 8.

The 54-year-old actor shared his sorrow on Instagram shortly after the news broke, posting a heartfelt message in memory of his longtime colleague and friend.

“R.I.P. my friend,” he wrote on his Instagram Story, accompanied by a sad-face emoji and praying-hands emoji.
Boreanaz also included a smiling black-and-white photo of O’Neal, adding a simple but powerful caption: “Icon.”

Boreanaz portrayed FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth on Bones for more than ten years, while O’Neal appeared as Max Keenan in 24 episodes of the crime drama between 2006 and 2017, according to IMDb.

News of O’Neal’s passing was confirmed Friday evening by his son Patrick O’Neal, who shared on Instagram that his father had “passed away peacefully” earlier in the day.
Patrick noted that the Love Story legend was surrounded by “his loving team,” who supported him in his final moments.

O’Neal leaves behind a large family. Among his five children is actress Tatum O’Neal, his daughter with first wife Joanna Moore. The former couple also shared son Griffin O’Neal.
He later married actress Leigh Taylor-Young, Patrick’s mother, before their divorce in 1974.

O’Neal also famously had a long-term relationship with Farrah Fawcett, with whom he welcomed son Redmond James Fawcett O’Neal, now 38.

In addition to his children, the beloved actor is survived by five grandchildren.
