Though NCIS: Los Angeles has wrapped its long-running tenure, the bond between its stars Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen remains unshakable — both on and off screen.
Fans who followed the hit procedural for 14 seasons will remember Ruah and Olsen portraying beloved on-screen couple Kensi Blye and Marty Deeks. Off-screen, their connection runs even deeper: Daniela is married to Eric’s older brother, David Paul Olsen, making them real-life family.
Since the series wrapped last year following its cancellation, both Daniela and Eric have kept a relatively low profile in Hollywood. But they’ve stayed visible to fans through heartwarming social media glimpses into their family lives.
This week, fans were treated to a sunny update when Daniela and her sister-in-law Sarah Wright — who is currently expecting her fourth child — shared a radiant moment from the beach in Malibu. The photo, posted to Instagram, shows the two lounging in the sand, glowing under the summer sun.
Daniela wore a chic black swimsuit topped with a straw hat, while Sarah proudly showed off her baby bump in a burnt orange bikini. The actress captioned the post: “Two mamas in the sun.”
The comments poured in with admiration:
“Two gorgeous mamas!” one fan gushed. Another chimed in: “Omg real-life superheroes! So gorgeous and empowering!!” Others followed suit with, “Beautiful mamas, both of you,” and “It’s good to see you both enjoying some time in the sun.”
Sarah, who is married to Eric Christian Olsen, has had a whirlwind year. In addition to her joyful pregnancy news, she and Eric also faced heartbreak when their family home was lost during the devastating Los Angeles wildfires in January. The couple met in 2006 on the set of Fox’s sitcom The Loop, got engaged during a 2011 trip to Mexico, and tied the knot the following year in picturesque Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Together, they are raising three children: Wyatt, 11, Esme Olivia, 8, and Winter Story, 4 — with one more on the way.
As for Daniela and David, their own love story began in 2011, thanks in part to Eric himself. During a 2014 appearance on The Queen Latifah Show, the actor playfully recalled his matchmaking efforts: “I would say something nice about her to him and then something to her about him. That was enough to kind of get them started.”
The couple wed in Portugal in 2014 — a nod to Daniela’s roots — and have two children, son River, 10, and daughter Sierra, 7.
While their days chasing bad guys on screen may be over, Daniela and Sarah are clearly soaking up life’s sweetest roles — moms, sisters-in-law, and forever friends.
