Daniela Ruah Debuts the Trailer for Her Short Film My Type md14

Daniela Ruah is using her directing debut to tell a story that’s both romantic and meaningful. My Type, premiering at the 2026 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, follows two young people who fall in love while living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Ruah says her experience directing network television taught her the importance of being prepared for anything. “When challenges come up, preparation gives you options,” she explains.

That lesson became crucial when the production ran out of film during shooting. With the help of a knowledgeable crew—including individuals living with Type 1 Diabetes—the team adapted while maintaining authenticity.

For Ruah, My Type isn’t just a creative milestone; it’s a chance to raise awareness, normalize the condition, and tell a deeply human story—something she hopes audiences will carry with them long after the credits roll.
