Chicago Fire actor Daniel Kyri, known for his role as firefighter Darren Ritter, was recently hospitalized and shared a candid photo from his hospital bed. Despite his health setback, Kyri used the opportunity to send an inspiring message to fans about the importance of voting.
Kyri’s character, Ritter, has been a fan favorite on Chicago Fire and recently moved to Truck 81 after some reshuffling at Firehouse 51. In a surprising update posted on Tuesday, Kyri shared that he had been hospitalized since Sunday and had spent time in the ICU. Although initially worried about missing his chance to vote, he was determined not to let his situation stop him. Kyri shared his determination in a heartfelt caption, writing, “I was hospitalized Sunday. Initially planned to vote yesterday but spent the day in the ICU. I wanted to vote in this election.”
With the help of hospital staff and his friend, Kyri was able to cast his vote from his hospital bed, a move he proudly shared on social media. “With their help (and my hero @jackball10), I was able to cast this vote from my hospital bed,” he added, urging fans to vote in any way they could, emphasizing, “Please vote. There are so many ways to do it.”
The post featured hashtags hinting at his illness and showing his enthusiasm for participating in the election, even under challenging circumstances.
Daniel’s Supporters and Co-Stars Rally Around Him
Kyri didn’t reveal the exact reason for his hospitalization but assured fans in the comments that he was “working on getting out soon.” Fans and fellow cast members quickly showed their support. Chicago Med’s Jessy Schram, actor Ryan Jamaal Swain, and Claudia Jordan were among those who sent their well-wishes. “Omg are you ok?” asked Claudia, to which Kyri replied, “Much better now and working on getting out of here! ❤️.”
Other friends and fans sent messages of love and recovery, including Ryan Jamaal Swain, who wrote, “Friend I hope you are okay and sending recovery energy and prayer.” Kyri responded warmly to everyone, showing his appreciation for their support.
