On the update front, this is one of our favorite posts because it touches on some shows we’re big fans of around here. By now, you’ve heard that FXX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and ABC’s Abbott Elementary are getting a major crossover with the #Phillyverse. If you’re thinking “game changer,” you’re right. But it’s also got a lot of people thinking about what shows they’d like their shows to cross over with — and we’re not just talking about fans. When speaking with Screen Rant about the eighth season of ABC’s 9-1-1, Oliver Stark (Firefighter Evan “Buck” Buckley) was asked if there were any series they’d like their show to cross over with — with ABC’s Nathan Fillion and Alexi Hawley, Eric Winter, and Melissa O’Neil starring in The Rookie getting nods.
“We always joke that it’s like ‘Abbott Elementary’ or something, but I see they’re doing a crossover with ‘It’s Always Sunny,’ which I think is really funny. I guess ‘The Rookie’ makes the most sense, right? It’s focused on first responders. I believe it’s set in L.A., so that’s cool,” Stark shared, noting how the two shows line up so well. “I like the idea of two different teams coming together and working together no matter what. That’s something I can definitely get behind and see the possibility of,” they added. What do you think? Agree? Disagree? Do you have any other shows that would be a better fit? Let us know in the comments below… Fillion on ‘The Rookie: Feds’ Cast Appearances: When asked about the possibility of seeing Niecy Nash-Betts, Frankie R. Faison, James Lesure, Britt Robertson, or Kevin Zegers return as their characters from the canceled ‘Feds,’ Fillion shared, “The short answer is yes. We’re trying to create a universe where we can all exist.” The actor and executive producer would go on to add that expanding the show’s cast and focusing on a handful of characters has been a winning plan for the ABC series. “The name and the idea that it’s my show has always been a gimmick. It’s always been an ensemble cast. I’m happy to be able to say that this ensemble show could, at any time, be completely dependent on the role of any member of this cast,” Fillion explained.
On that “Chenford” breakup…: During the panel, the topic of Tim (Winter) and Lucy’s (O’Neil) breakup and what it could mean for the new season was discussed. While it may be difficult for the characters — and their fans — Fillion noted that everything they’re going through will be worth it “when” they reunite — before changing the “when” to “if” to be safe. While emphasizing that his character still has some personal repair to do before he can be nice to Lucy, Winter hinted that Tim will make up with Lucy in “different ways” in Season 7.
