Corey Mylchreest Brings King George to Life in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

A first look at Corey Mylchreest’s portrayal of young King George in the upcoming series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story has been released.

The much-awaited prequel series to the popular show Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, is set to debut soon. Netflix has already teased fans with a preview clip and a few images featuring the cast. These include India Amarteifio as a young Queen Charlotte and Arsema Thomas as Young Lady Danbury. The latest addition to the cast is Corey Mylchreest, who will play a young King George, and Netflix has just released a new image of him.

The character of King George, portrayed by James Fleet, may be familiar with those following Bridgerton. Despite being a minor player in the series, his brief appearances in Seasons 1 and 2 have made a lasting impact. According to the series, King George is struggling with an illness that keeps him isolated from the public, leaving Queen Charlotte as the face of the monarchy. The show is set in Regency-era London and follows the upper class through their journey of love, gossip, and politics. Adapted from Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, the series features a diverse cast of characters, including the eight siblings of the Bridgerton family, their friends, and rivals.

What to Expect From the Bridgerton Prequel
The prequel will offer a more in-depth look at the young queen’s rise to power and prominence during the years preceding Bridgerton. In addition, the series will explore Queen Charlotte’s life and the relationship between her and young King George, from their first meeting to their marriage. Through this love story, we will be able to understand how Bridgerton and Ton’s society were shaped. The prequel also features appearances by original cast members Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, and Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton.

This prequel will likely offer insight into King George’s life prior to marrying Queen Charlotte and provide answers to questions such as who he was before this. In addition, the spinoff will showcase young versions of Charlotte, Violet, and Agatha, who will later become close friends through marriage. Although some photos and a clip from the spinoff have been released, the image of a young King George is currently generating the most attention.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is created, written, produced, and directed by Shonda Rhimes. The show is produced by Betsy Beers and directed by Tom Verica. Other cast members of the series include Tunji Kasim, Cyril Nri, Hugh Sachs, Sam Clemmett, Michelle Fairley, Richard Cunningham, Rob Maloney, Katie Brayben, and Kier Charles.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story has been in production, with its broadcast planned for the upcoming spring. Next week, Netflix will release the trailer to tease what’s to come.
