The case Colter Shaw works on in Tracker Season 2, Episode 3, “Bloodlines,” doesn’t come his way very often. Instead of being approached directly by a client or receiving it from Teddy, the episode finds Colter teaming up with a rival tracker with whom he has a complicated history. Sofia Pernas returns as Billie Matalon, Colter’s rival tracker who follows him around both his work and personal lives. They used to date, and awkwardness still haunts them. CBS has released a sneak peek of the episode, which airs Sunday, October 27 at 8:30 p.m. As teased in the episode’s official logline below, the sneak peek explores Colter and Billie’s dynamic.
“Colter and rival tracker Billie Matalon team up to find a missing high school baseball star.”
Billie is a mystery that Colter has never quite figured out, and the first teaser trailer shows just how much she has to hide. The video begins with the duo at a bar as Billie tries to get Colter to help, but he is wary of her because she has manipulated him before. Colter’s questions are met with a superficial response, and Colter can tell. She tries to entice him with bounty money or their past, but he sees right through her. After digging deeper, Colter learns that Billie is actually from the town where the baseball star went missing and that she has a connection to the family. “Aren’t you from Miami?” Colter asks, surprised. Billie reveals that she needs Colter to act as a buffer between the townspeople and her because her family history there can’t be positive reviews. The next scenes see Colter and Billie delving deeper into the investigation. In one scene, Billie doesn’t appear, but Colter interacts with a detective who, unsurprisingly, isn’t thrilled with Colter’s presence. The case takes on several layers as it appears Eric is involved in another missing person’s case that they think Eric is holding. One scene teases an escalation when blood is found, and Colter presents his findings to the police. Another scene shows Colter and Billie in an abandoned office space, where their competitive spirit is evident. A locked door is a challenge, and Billie wants to show off her lockpicking skills. Colter kicks the door open to show off his strength. It will be interesting to see these two work together.
