CIA Series Won’t Feature FBI: Most Wanted Characters — But Could There Be Cameos?

If you were hoping to see more of the FBI: Most Wanted characters in the new FBI series, CIA, then there’s some bad news. Tom Ellis’s new series will not feature any of them. At least, not as series regulars, but what about the chances of cameos?

CIA showrunner David Hudgins told TV Insider that the new series will feel a little different to all the rest in the franchise. While there will still be cases of the week to solve, the heart of the show will be in the “odd couple” set up of Ellis’s Hart Hoxton and his FBI partner, who is still to be cast.

He also made it clear that we shouldn’t expect any crossover events just yet, and this does make sense in a way. The series needs to stand on its own, but that doesn’t stop us from hoping for an FBI: Most Wanted cameo or two.

Why specifically FBI: Most Wanted was mentioned

The FBI shows aren't new tonight, but there is some good news (Jan. 9, 2025) (Full information 👇 💬) | Facebook

It may seem a little odd at first that Hudgins specifically mentioned FBI: Most Wanted. Out of the two FBI shows that came to an end in May 2025, it’s FBI: International that needs closure. The finale left with cliffhangers for Wes, Vo, and Raines, and CIA could have been the way to deliver answers.

Well, Hudgins was the showrunner on Most Wanted, so it makes sense that out of the two shows, he’d want to bring characters from that one into the new creation. Just don’t expect them, and that’s likely for a few reasons.

Other FBI characters could be mentioned in CIA

This doesn’t completely rule out the mention or the cameo of a character here and there. All the shows are in the same universe, so we could learn how Barnes is doing as the new leader of the Fugitive Task Force. Maybe Ellis can pay Remy a visit at his new restaurant since it’s in New York.

CIA is its own show, although it does exist in the universe of the mothership FBI.

My favorite idea would be to get Hana in on a case, considering her skills with a computer. A lot of crimes are now cyber crimes, so it would make sense to need an expert. If the show wanted to use the Fly Team instead, Amanda Tate would be the woman for the job.
