Chuck Lorre Returns to Banff: Big Bang Theory Creator to Headline Media Festival’s Star-Studded Summit

‘The Big Bang Theory’ creator will speak as part of the Summit Series at the industry’s Canadian Rockies retreat.

Chuck Lorre has been tapped to give a keynote speech at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival.

The Big Bang Theory creator will return to Banff after receiving the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award at the industry’s Canadian Rockies retreat in 2012. Lorre, a veteran comedy creator, executive producer and writer, will speak as part of the Summit Series at the 46th edition of Banff from June 8 to 11, 2025.

Based at Warner Bros. Television, Lorre has produced The Big Bang Theory and the spinoffs Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage series. The prolific creator also has upcoming the comedy Leanne, starring Leanne Morgan, for Netflix.

Other series for WBTV include Bookie, The Kominsky Method, Mom, Mike & Molly, and Two and a Half Men, and before that, Lorre produced Cybill, Dharma & Greg, and Grace Under Fire, as well as co-executive produced Roseanne.

This year’s Summit Series in Banff will also host keynotes by Tubi CEO Anjali Sud and Keith Le Goy, chairman of Sony Pictures Television. The TV festival for the first time will combine the Banff Gala Awards and the Rockie Awards international competition to celebrate industry talent and TV series at one event.

The Rockie Awards will this year be another shootout between American and British TV producers as U.S. TV shows earned 54 nominations, followed closely by U.K. series with 52 nominations.

Also, this year, Korea will be the inaugural Country of Honor and will receive a special tribute at the Rockie Awards and Hans Zimmer will receive a Career Achievement Award and take part in an informal “In Conversation” session.
