The Golden Bachelorette season 1’s Joan Vassos recently posted photos from a birthday celebration, and Chock Chapple was missing from the event. This was Joan’s 62nd birthday, and this wasn’t where she had expected to find herself at her age. The private school administrator from Maryland was married to John Vassos for 32 years, and they had four children together, but he passed away in 2021. Though she never wanted to reenter the dating pool, she had promised her ailing late husband that she wouldn’t spend the rest of her life all alone.
Joan made her television debut during The Golden Bachelor season 1, but when she had to leave early due to a family emergency, she was cast as The Golden Bachelorette. She was introduced to 24 single Golden men, including Chock, a 60-year-old insurance executive and business owner. In the end, Chock won Joan’s final rose, and the two got engaged. They’ve been together often ever since, but Joan recently posted photos of a birthday celebration that didn’t include Chock.
Joan Is A Capricorn
And Chock’s a Virgo
Joan was born on January 11, 1963, which makes The Golden Bachelorette season 1 star a Capricorn. According to USA Today, Capricorns are known for being ambitious, practical, and disciplined. They’re natural entrepreneurs who work hard to achieve their goals. Capricorns are said to be very genuine, so they’re only spending time with people they truly want to be with. Luckily for Chock, Capricorns are said to be very committed to their romantic relationships, giving their all to their partner. The tenth sign of the zodiac is ruled by Saturn, represented by the goat, and is an Earth sign.
Capricorns are said to be compatible with other earth signs, like Taurus or Virgo. Luckily for Joan, Chock was born on September 14, 1963, which makes him a Virgo. According to Allure, Virgos are logical and practical but also perfectionists. Virgo’s greatest strength is their attention to detail, which can also be their greatest weakness. Since Joan and Chock are both Earth signs with similar outlooks on life, they’re very compatible. Just because people are compatible based on zodiac signs doesn’t mean their relationship will be smooth sailing all the time.
Joan & Chock’s Family Drama Explained
They Have Six Adult Children Between Them
Joan has four adult children, while Chock has two adult children with his first wife, Heather Chapple. As soon as Joan and Chock got engaged during The Golden Bachelorette season 1 finale, they immediately started focusing on blending their families. They wanted all their children to get to know each other. Things were looking good when the Vassos and Chapple families spent Thanksgiving and Christmas together. Joan and Chock were so pleased to be able to post happy Instagram photos of their shared holidays. So many of their photos present the perfect picture of a happy family.
Things on the family front weren’t as perfect as they seemed for Joan and Chock.
After Thanksgiving, Joan and Chock posted holiday photos. Judging from the pictures, their first family holiday altogether seemed to go well; however, Joan and Chock made comments about their families that raised eyebrows. Joan posted a clip on Instagram of her and Chock discussing their relationship. When they talk about bringing their families together, Joan admits it has been a “little harder right now.”
Despite the comment, the Vassos and Chapples get together again during Christmas. Whatever drama they may have been having, they put it aside for the holidays. Joan and Chock posted photos of the happy family on Instagram. Whatever family problems they may have, they appeared happy when celebrating Christmas in their matching pajamas together. Since leaving The Golden Bachelorette season 1 as a couple, Joan and Chock have been determined to be one big happy family, and the holidays were a great start.
Joan Celebrated Her Birthday Without Chock
33rd Anniversary Of Her 29th Birthday
Joan and Chock have been together a lot since leaving The Golden Bachelorette, which makes his most recent absence more notable. Joan posted Instagram photos and footage from her birthday celebration, and Chock was conspicuously missing from the event. Several of Joan’s children and grandchildren gathered around her as she celebrated her birthday. Joan joked it was the 33rd anniversary of her 29th birthday, and she even blew out a “29” candle on one of her two birthday cakes. Though it’s possible Chock was there and just didn’t appear in the photographs, it’s more likely he was absent.
Will Joan & Chock Get Married in 2025?
Another Golden Bachelor Wedding On The Horizon
Joan and Chock wouldn’t be the first Golden Bachelor wedding. The Golden Bachelor season 1 ended with 72-year-old Gerry Turner and 70-year-old Theresa Nist getting engaged. They were married a few weeks after the finale aired, in a lavish, star-studded wedding. No expense was spared, and the bill was paid entirely by ABC. Despite high hopes and romantic intentions, Gerry and Theresa were divorced after three months of marriage.
Joan and Chock don’t want to make the same mistake as Gerry and Theresa.
Unlike Gerry and Theresa, Joan and Chock didn’t rush into marriage soon after getting engaged on The Golden Bachelorette. They’ve both addressed that they have no intention of rushing into a wedding. They want to get to know each other first, and they want their families to be seamlessly united. Though Joan and Chock are taking their time, they appear deeply in love, and will likely get married in 2025.
