Dante Torres must be one of God’s strongest soldiers.
If only he hadn’t lost his faith recently, he’d recognize that.
Because we’re headed back around to a Torres-centric hour with Chicago PD Season 13 Episode 6, and our dear Ocean can’t seem to catch a break!

A Dante Torres-centric Places Him in Peril Yet Again
By now, it’s safe to say that most intelligence agents need to wrap themselves in bubble wrap whenever they leave the house.
None of the team can even do a routine errand here or there without either stumbling upon an active crime that they have to investigate or finding themselves potentially a victim in something.
Well, it’s Torres’s time to be the victim in the next big action-packed case that will likely have us yelling at our screens.
The synopsis teases that a routine errand for Torres goes awry when someone drags him into a conspiracy situation that turns violent.
And in the promo, we get a glimpse of that, and it’s alarming.
Torres is simply driving down the street when a white van barrels right into him on the driver’s side, causing an accident and leaving Torres banged up and reeling.
Torres’ Hostage Situation Mirrors an Atwater Case

It turns out the person who caused the accident is a man who is serving life for a murder that he didn’t commit, and he’s hellbent on holding Torres up at gunpoint, demanding that Torres be the one to help him clear his name.
How exactly does one think that abducting a police officer and holding him at gunpoint will help him do that is beyond me, but as our perpetrator says, “he has nothing to lose.”
What he doesn’t realize is that Torres often feels the same way and has been getting off on pain himself. It’ll be interesting to see Torres’ approach to this situation.
It feels very similar to that time a hurt father held Atwater hostage, so there does seem to be some parallels there.

But because Torres is having such a difficult time in his personal life, he’s likely to identify with and genuinely want to help his captor. He’ll be determined to help clear this man’s name if that’s what it comes down to.
He’s been battling his own issues with guilt, shame, and so much other stuff going on, and knows what it’s like to be in an intensely dark place.
Dante is Still Struggling, and This May Make Things Worse or Be a Breakthrough
It’s the first time we’re checking up on Torres since Chicago PD Season 13 Episode 2, which saw him in a downward spiral yet again, only to find some twisted solace in sex and pain. Knowing Torres, he’s still in a bad spot.
From the stills and the promo, he still has that haunted look in his eyes, and he carries himself as if he’s carrying the weight of the world, or too many sins and a significant amount of trauma, on his shoulders.

It seems the show will want to continue leaning into that for Torres and via cases like this.
While it’s frustrating to see Torres deal with such dark arcs endlessly without any real way of escaping them, Benjamin Levy Aquilar always does a phenomenal job with the material and makes it a worthwhile journey for his performance alone.
This hour should be no exception.
A Notable Guest-Star Suggests Powerful Performances
The acclaimed Chad L Coleman will guest star as the escapee holding Torres hostage.

Coleman is well-known for his work on both The Wire and The Walking Dead, and he’s undoubtedly a fantastic actor and a great guest-star to have on this series.
It sounds like another exciting hour, even if many viewers will have conflicted feelings on Torres’ darker arcs.
Who knows? Maybe this will be a breakthrough for him.
