Jon Seda is leaving Chicago P.D., but staying in Chicago.
The actor, who has appeared on the Dick Wolf show since it premiered in 2014, is headed to the upcoming spin-off, Chicago Justice, as a series regular, EW has confirmed.
Seda has played Detective Antonio Dawson since the early days of Chicago Fire. On Justice, which debuts midseason on NBC, Dawson will serve as an investigator for the DA’s office, where he will be partnered with Lori Nagle, played by Justified’s Joelle Carter.
It’s not yet known exactly when Seda will transition from Chicago P.D., which is currently in its fourth season. Already in the works is another crossover of sorts for the actor, as EW reported last month that Dawson will find himself in a romantic relationship with Fire’s Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer).
“It started to gain some traction because of the actors,” P.D. executive producer Matt Olmstead told EW. “There’s plenty to play in terms of the May-December version of Brett to Antonio — his character has a couple kids, he’s divorced, no way should he be with this woman, but she’s had her heart broken. She’s looking for a real man; he qualifies. He’s looking for a real soul, a real heart, and she qualifies.”
