Chicago Fire’s Newest Guest Star Has a One Chicago and SVU History—Here’s Where You’ve Seen Him

Actor Greg Finley has guest-starred in an impressive roster of TV shows, and he’s worked with Dick Wolf before.

Lyla “Lizzie” Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) has settled in quite nicely at Firehouse 51 since her Season 12 Chicago Fire welcome, but her past came back to haunt her after she reunited with her ex-fiancé, Scott “Oz” Osbourne, played by Greg Finley.

Novak may be cozy and content at Firehouse 51, but the same can’t be said about her relationship with Oz. Both paramedics, Novak and Oz ran into each other after being paired for a graveyard shift in Season 13, Episode 14 (“Bar Time”). It took viewers little time to learn Novak had fled her engagement with Oz, leading to some major drama. Also: You wouldn’t be far off base if you thought Lizzie’s ex looked a little familiar: Finley is both a One Chicago and Law & Order: SVU alum.

Check out what happened during Finley’s guest appearance on Chicago Fire — and learn more about his past credits — below.

Finley appears on Chicago Fire as Lizzie Novak’s former fiancé

From the moment we met Scott “Oz” Osbourne, it was clear he still harbored resentments for Lizzie after she backed out of their engagement by leaving the ring on the counter and dipping without any explanation. Lizzie has struggled to lay down roots; she was a floater for years before she found her Firehouse 51 family. After running into Oz, the former lovers quarreled over the tumultuous state of how they ended their relationship, but their fondness and respect for each other soon emerged. Oz commended Lizzie for finding a support system at 51 and revealed he was engaged again, hoping it would “stick” this time. By the episode’s end, Lizzie apologized for leaving Oz the way she did, and they settled on good terms.

“Bar Time” isn’t Greg Finley’s first One Chicago rodeo

This isn’t the first time Finley has encountered One Chicago’s fearless first responders; he also guest-starred on an episode of Chicago P.D.

Finley guest-starred in Season 6, Episode 4 (“Ride Along”) as Trent Stow, a former football player-turned-drug addict. Trent, along with his murderous accomplices, landed on the Intelligence Unit’s radar after he began breaking into homes and committing a string of robberies to fuel his habit. The squad didn’t hesitate in taking him down, leading to Trent’s incarceration.

Greg Finley also starred on Law & Order: SVU

The first time Finley worked within Dick Wolf’s vast primetime landscape was when he guest-starred in a 2014 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Finley appeared in SVU Season 15, Episode 16 (“Gridiron Soldier”) as Eddie Thorpe, a college football player who brushed paths with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) after a gruesome hazing case landed on her desk.
