Only their parents were in attendance as the couple exchanged vows surrounded by nature’s blessings
Chicago Fire star Jake Lockett and actress Dominique Domingo have officially said “I do” — in one of the most enchanting, intimate weddings of the season.
The couple eloped on June 18 in a ceremony held in a lush, private cove near Kalihiwai Falls, a majestic two-tiered waterfall on Kauai’s north shore. The exclusive event, attended by only their parents, embraced nature, emotion, and symbolism in a deeply personal way.
💍 A Ceremony Rooted in Nature
“The theme was about letting nature take the lead,” Domingo told PEOPLE. “There was no need for added décor because Mother Nature handled it all.”
As a Taurus born on Earth Day and lovingly nicknamed “Mother Earth,” Domingo said the lush Hawaiian backdrop aligned perfectly with her soul. “There is something special and healing about the energy of the island,” she explained. “The smell of the air, the greenery, the water — I feel most connected when I’m outside.”
💫 A Waterfall, a Song, and a Full-Circle Moment
For Lockett, the setting held poetic significance. Just months before meeting Domingo at a commercial audition, he had written a song at a waterfall in Yellowstone, envisioning a woman he hadn’t yet met. The lyrics asked her to “stay true and be patient.”
“To get married by a waterfall was full circle for me,” he said.
🎶 A Soundtrack to Remember
Live acoustic music added a cinematic touch to the ceremony. Local artist Anjela Rose performed “Let’s Stay Together” by Joesef as the parents arrived. Lockett walked to “Born to Love” by Ray LaMontagne ft. Sierra Ferrell, while Domingo made her entrance to Sabrina Claudio’s “Frozen.”
In a beautiful twist of fate, Dominique’s friends unknowingly used “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar ft. H.E.R. in a surprise wedding video — the same song that closed the ceremony as the newlyweds walked back up the aisle.
👗 Earthy Elegance
Jake Lockett:
Lockett wore a custom Irish linen suit by KERCHER, complete with Hawaiian floral lining and the wedding date embroidered under the collar.
Dominique Domingo:
Domingo stunned in a “sexy yet sophisticated” Maggie Sottero gown, the very first dress she tried on. Altered by Soheila Zare, the look was completed with hair by Cassidy Elise and makeup by Marissa Vossen.
She later changed into a sleek white Zara slip dress for the evening dinner.
🌊 Earth & Water Unite: A Ceremony of Meaning
The couple infused their elopement with symbolism rooted in nature:
-
Water Element:
Ocean water was placed in a bowl as both families laid a hand on the couple’s shoulders, blessing the water with their energy. A Hawaiian ti leaf was used by the officiant to cleanse the space before vows began. -
Earth Element:
Two sand vessels were used—one from Riviera Maya, where Lockett proposed at sunrise on Jan. 30, and one from a Kauai beach. They each infused their sand with individual intentions before blending them into one bottle at the end of the ceremony.
They also took part in a Honi ceremony and received a Polynesian blessing spoken in the Hawaiian language.
✍️ Personal Vows, Private Love
Lockett and Domingo exchanged handwritten vows and rings from Ren Private Jewelers. In a world of high-profile weddings, the couple’s choice to limit the guest list to only their parents, a photographer (Ashley Uptain), and a videographer (Zac Ramos), felt revolutionary.
“We wanted to keep it simple,” Lockett shared. “Anything bigger wouldn’t allow us to focus on each other.”
🍽 Post-Ceremony Bliss
After saying “I do,” the newly joined families celebrated over dinner at Bar Acuda in Hanalei Bay. In the days before and after the wedding, the group shared quality time in a rented home, cooking meals, watching movies, and swimming together.
“Our families had never met before,” Lockett said. “Taking the time to truly connect made everything even more special.”
❤️ A Love Without Limits
For both Jake and Dominique, their wedding marked more than just a milestone — it symbolized the power of partnership.
“She is my dream,” Lockett said. “All the parts I knew I wanted and others I never even imagined, but am so grateful to have.”
Domingo echoed the sentiment:
“I’ve never felt more seen, protected, and held by a person. We do not withhold love, ever… and we laugh together constantly. That’s one of my favorite things about us.”
Congratulations to the beautiful newlyweds, Jake & Dominique!
From waterfalls to forever, may their love always flow freely.
