Chicago Fire Will Empty Firehouse 51 Before S13 Even Has a Chance to Take Off

Taylor Kinney has to stay now, right?

Summary:

– Through season 12, which hasn’t even ended yet, Chicago Fire has gone through quite a few cast changes.
– With three fan-favorite characters leaving the show, and another recently introduced character not lasting a full season, fans are confused as to what to expect next.
– Since the show has already been renewed for its 13th season, viewers are trying to guess who’ll continue the story.

Though fans were already devastated by the news that Alberto Rosende, Kara Killmer, and Jesse Spencer would be leaving Chicago Fire during season 12, they weren’t the only members Firehouse 51 would lose.

In a truly unexpected move, the show also said goodbye to its newest addition, Rome Flynn as Derrick Gibson.

Not only were fans confused about the overall arc of his character, but they also began to worry about the state of the Chicago Fire cast. The show that lost so many people doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to replace them all. More to the point, it promises to send one of its key characters away again. Is it even possible to get season 13 off the ground now?

Will Taylor Kinney Be Back to Chicago Fire Season 13

Even though there are no official updates on season 13 cast changes right now, fans are already starting to panic, not being able to predict where the show is going. Though many speculate that all the cast changes have to do with NBC’s budget cuts, others refuse to believe the rumors and believe that the show is simply headed for a bigger change.

One of the things that could seemingly work in the case of Chicago Fire is a Grey’s Anatomy-style reboot. If the show were to introduce a group of new characters and make an effort to integrate them into the existing cast, it could bring a much-needed breath of fresh air and make the show feel less empty.

However, that still wouldn’t mean that fans are ready to let go of their favorites. Right now, it seems that Stella Kidd is one of the main characters that will continue to exist in the One Chicago universe as long as actress Miranda Rae Mayo is willing to remain a part of the cast. However, the same cannot be said for her on-screen husband.

Portrayed by Taylor Kinney, Kelly Severide has been more absent than present since season 11 of the show, and even when he is present, many fans have noticed the change in his acting style and his character’s behavior. Now that another of his disappearances has been teased until the 11th episode of season 12, fans aren’t so sure he’ll return at all.

In his place, Jake Lockett’s Sam Carver can finally take center stage. During season 11 and Kinney’s hiatus, we’ve already seen him get more screen time and storylines, including some with Stella Kidd. So if season 12 is going to be Kelly Severide’s last, the new hero is already here and waiting.
