Chicago Fire star Kara Killmer is set to exit the show during its twelfth season, it has been confirmed.
Variety reports that Killmer, who plays Sylvie Brett in the cop procedural, will leave during season 12. It is not yet known when her last episode will be.
Fans were first introduced to Sylvie in season three back in 2014, and Killmer has appeared in a total of 193 episodes.
She has also made regular appearances in both spin-off shows, Chicago Med and Chicago P.D., so there is no doubt that her presence will be sorely missed on screen.
But while we will be saying goodbye to Sylvie, season 12 will also mark the return of Taylor Kinney’s character Lieutenant Kelly Severide to Firehouse 51, after Kinney took a leave of absence from the show to deal with a personal matter.
The renewal of Chicago Fire for a twelfth season was announced back in April, but the recent Hollywood strikes brought a halt to production, so the new season has not yet begun filming.
There is a lot of anticipation about the upcoming season, especially as season 11 was left on a tense cliffhanger that saw Randall ‘Mouch’ McHolland (Christian Stolte) seriously injured during a dangerous rescue call.
In dramatic scenes, the firefighter was rushed to Chicago Med where he lost consciousness and flatlined, and his fate was left up in the air at the end of the season.
The news that Killmer is leaving is not the only sad exit in the One Chicago franchise, as last month it was announced that Chicago P.D. actress Tracy Spiridakos will be leaving the show after season 11.
Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med air on NBC and Peacock in the US, and on Sky Witness in the UK.
