Chicago Fire Stars and Their Off-Screen Loves: Who’s Married, Dating, and Keeping It Private?

The workplace hookups on ‘Chicago Fire’ may be frequent, but most of the cast has been off the market for decades

Though many Chicago Fire fans would love to see their favorite on-screen couples together in real life, many cast members have found love outside of Firehouse 51.

Since its debut in 2012, the NBC procedural drama has released 13 seasons featuring its ensemble of dedicated firefighters, paramedics and rescue personnel who work to save the city’s residents from terrifying life-or-death situations. While most of the fires they fight happen outside of the station, things have definitely heated up between the co-workers inside it.

Station romances may not be recommended, but they’re definitely a major occurrence at Firehouse 51. From Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) — and later, Casey and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) — to Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Chicago Fire has had no shortage of love stories. Thankfully, the cast’s real-life relationships are far less dramatic.

Spencer, who starred in the series until 2021, has been married to Dr. Kali Woodruff Carr since 2020, and Raymund has been in a relationship with cinematographer Tari Segal since around 2016. Kinney tied the knot with model Ashley Cruger in 2024.

Here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of the Chicago Fire cast past and present.

01. Jesse Spencer and Dr. Kali Woodruff Carr

Jesse Spencer, who played Matthew Casey, married Dr. Kali Woodruff Carr, a research scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital, in 2020. The couple met at a music festival in Chicago in 2014 and got engaged during a hiking trip in the Peruvian Andes in 2019.

The Australian actor said their wedding was the “silver lining” of a year ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“She’s pretty, smart and way ahead of her years,” he told The Daily Telegraph. “We’re very happy. She is my port in every storm, and we’re already excited to be moving on to the next phase of our lives.”

Two years after their wedding, Spencer and Dr. Carr welcomed their first child. Though the couple have remained private, the actor did cite wanting to spend more time with his growing family as the reason he left Chicago Fire in 2021.

02. Taylor Kinney and Ashley Cruger

Taylor Kinney, who plays Kelly Severide, has been married to model Ashley Cruger since 2024.

After hard-launching their relationship on Instagram in 2022, the couple have kept their romance out of the public eye. Cruger has also supported her husband’s on-screen career and even made a cameo during an episode of Chicago Fire in season 11.

“First episode of Chicago Fire aired last night and I got to sneak on it @taylorkiney111,” she wrote in a since-deleted post on X, per Hello!.

After two years of dating, Kinney and Cruger tied the knot on April 30, 2024, in an intimate ceremony in Chicago.

03. Monica Raymund and Tari Segal

Monica Raymund has been dating cinematographer Tari Segal since around 2016. Though the couple are low-key, they have shared a few snippets of their relationship on Instagram.

In 2020, the Hightown actress posted a black-and-white selfie with Segal during a four-wheeling trip in Utah with the caption, “Fridaay funday.”

Segal shared a photo of Raymund strolling beachside with their dog, Charlie, in 2022 and captioned an up-close shot of the actress, “Happy Valentine’s to this babe,” in 2020.

04. David Eigenberg and Chrysti Eigenberg

David Eigenberg, who plays Christopher Herrmann on Chicago Fire, has been married to his wife, Chrysti Eigenberg, since 2002. The Sex and the City actor told CosmoTV in 2013 that they met at a gala event in Virginia and got married “real quick.”

“I knew she was the girl,” David told the outlet, noting that they went through a rough patch during the second year of their marriage. “When the dust settles and if you could still forgive each other and communicate and start to understand something about the other person … that’s the goodness.”

The couple have two children together, a boy and a girl, who helped their mom surprise David with a sentimental gift for his 60th birthday in 2024.

05. Eamonn Walker and Sandra Kane

Eamonn Walker, who plays Wallace Boden in the series, is married to artist Sandra Kane.

Outside of her occasional posts sharing their motorcycle rides and exploring galleries, the couple have remained mostly private. In one 2017 Instagram post, Sandra joked that her husband is handsome “even when he’s grumpy.”

Walker and Kane have three children, per Soaps.com.

06. Christian Stolte and Kim Whitehead-Stolte

Christian Stolte, who plays Randall “Mouch” McHolland on Chicago Fire, has been married to his wife, Kim Whitehead-Stolte, since 2001. The couple have two daughters — both of whom have made cameos on their dad’s show.

Their older child, Corinne Anderson, played his on-screen daughter in a 2015 episode of Chicago Fire and acted in a 2019 crossover episode with Chicago Med. She also worked behind the scenes with Stolte when he appeared on Chicago P.D.

Christian told Parade in 2021 that his other daughter, Greta Stolte, was the first person rescued in Chicago Fire’s pilot episode.

“She’s now a freshman at Arizona State,” the actor told the outlet. “But she was small enough that Jesse handed her off to David after they crawled out of a residential fire.”

07. Joe Minoso and Caitlin Murphy Miles

Joe Minoso, who plays Joe Cruz on the show, has been married to his wife, Caitlin Murphy Miles, since 2016. Miles, who worked as a makeup artist on Chicago Fire, opened a wellness boutique, yoga and paramedical tattoo studio in East Dundee, Ill., in 2022.

In a 2019 post celebrating his third wedding anniversary with Miles, Minoso poked fun at his character’s romantic shortcomings.

“Well Chloe may have dumped me, but in real life (3 years ago today) I got to marry the most phenomenal, insightful, artistic, gorgeous women on the planet!” he captioned a photo from their nuptials. “@murphyminoso thank you for the countless wonderful moments of our lives.”

08. Kara Killmer and Andrew Cheney

Kara Killmer, who played Sylvie Brett, is married to fellow actor Andrew Cheney. The couple first met on the set of the 2015 pirate action film Beyond the Mask.

Cheney has since appeared in films like 77 Chances and Where Love Found Me and has had a recurring role on the faith-based crime-drama Vindication since 2021.

09. Jocelyn Hudon and Jake Manley

Jocelyn Hudon, who plays Lizzie Novak on Chicago Fire, married her partner, Jake Manley, in Las Vegas in 2022.

The When Hope Calls actress told Entertainment Tonight in 2020 that they met in 2015 when they both started working with the same acting agent and self-tape coach. He proposed during a trip to Montreal and planned it as a nod to one of her favorite scenes in Gilmore Girls.

“We went up to the rooftop terrace and waiting on the patio was 1,000 red roses,” Hudon told the outlet. “I was so shocked. I thought maybe production had sent them or it was a mistake, or maybe the Airbnb was storing them up there, and then Jake said, ‘1,000 red roses,’ which is from one of my favorite episodes of Gilmore Girls.”

Also in the entertainment business, Manley has appeared in movies like Midway and Holidate and starred in the Netflix supernatural teen drama The Order.

10. Dermot Mulroney and Prima Apollinaare

Dermot Mulroney, who plays Dom Pascal on the show, is married to singer Prima Apollinaare.

The longtime couple have two daughters, Mabel Ray and Sally, and the Anyone But You actor has a son, Clyde Keener, with his ex-wife actress Catherine Keener.

During a 2012 appearance on The Rosie Show, Mulroney talked about the timing of his second marriage after divorcing Keener in 2007.

“A lot of it doesn’t make sense,” he said, “but you can’t deny your heart.”
